In light of Wigan's relegation, chairman David Sharpe has issued a short statement.   "Do you want salt & vinegar love?"

We're giving Wigan a status they don't deserve.

I can just imagine all the other local clubs pissing themselves at our expense.

I feel embarrassed telling people over this way we are meant to hate United.

They just look at me as if to say "ah how cute".

Would rather have a proper rival than waste time hating a conglomerate that couldn't give the remotest of shits about us.

I hate them all

I hate them all

Is the correct answer.

We are

But we won't be ever again

Was with a bucket shaker at the Perth Glory game last night. Always thought he was a DMB (because he said so) but suddenly he's a Bury fan and on about a trip to Wembley. Couldn't be too 'impolite' to him as it was his private box!

I'll be waiting to shovel shit on him though if they don't make it. He did improve my night when he recounted their most recent 2-1 loss to us  :spiteful:

Them, Blackpool, Wigan, Bastard Rovers, Burnley - they can all fuck off to the lower leagues as far as I am concerned.

Bury's 46th league match is at Tranmere.

if it comes down to it then, i would rather Bury win that game and get promoted to send the Tramps out of the football league

Bang on

Wigan are  a small lower divisions club who had a sugar daddy to give them an unbelievable 10 years with the big boys.

Please don't give them the status of being our rivals.

Without a sugar daddy they'll go back to being a little club like Exeter or Hartlepool who we'll only get to play when we are shit.

Any pickings out the pie eating twats squad we could nick to rub salt in? Perch left back? No idea if he's shit

Al habsi ????

When the Irish lot put some money in we will be getting McLean in.

I know he's not a Wigan player, but the South Korean lad who's currently at Wigan on loan from Cardiff, Kim Bo-Kyung, he's out of contract in the summer and he'd be a great signing for us.

I don't know why people keep pretending that owners backing clubs isn't valid. It is what the modern game involves. Without Eddie we'd not have enjoyed our top flight time or we'd be bust.

A rich owner backing you doesn't make you invalid as a club not override your achievements. Would be spectacularly self defeating to try and argue that.

We'd had 60 years in the top division and had won 4 Fa Cups before Eddie Davies.

Wigan had had 0 years in the even the 2nd Division and no trophies before Dave Whelan

Massive, massive difference in the stature of the clubs.

They are not worthy of us, ignore them.

I don't see why 60 years of mostly ancient history counts either. It is a bizarre attitude. We were irrelevant as a club to many for a long period. Nobody cared about our history, even many living in Bolton.

What matters is where you are now and where you want to go to. Any local club we play will be a rival, for a game at least. Clubs can come from lower leagues and rise it doesn't make them irrelevant.

chelsea won the league once, 60 years ago, before the russian arrived

maybe they are irrelevant

Which is probably what Man U think about us. I don't see what the problem is in having a rivalry with Wigan seen as we've been in the same division as them for the best part of a decade.

We've still got one with Tranmere and they make Wigan look like Real Madrid.

Not as bizarre as thinking that Sky invented football.

Have we?

Who thinks that? Where you are now is what matters. Where you were in 1950 is broadly irrelevant. Liverpool were the best team in England for a decade but now they're not. And haven't been for a long time. Does that mean they are entitled to be above Chelsea or be regarded in any better a light than Chelsea currently? Of course not. Trying to claim we're massive because we were good decades ago is small time behaviour. Trying to claim we're "better" than other clubs in the same division because we were higher than them in the past is equally pathetic. Sort of thing I'd imagine Liverpool and Man Utd fans doing and us laughing at them for it.
