Just caught this programme half way through, there's a slot about the Manchester Dog's Home Fire.  Truly heartbreaking.

 

Featured ten minutes before, some scrote left his council flat and a locksmith discovered his Staffie puppy hanging from the light fitting.  Nice.  But then Channel 5 showed a Churchill advert with the dog being strangled/wearing a long scarf.  Somebody's not thought about that one.

Can't watch stuff like this.

 

My mate was telling me about a programme about guide dogs the other day. Showed one getting put down Marley and me style. I'm ok thanks :-(

I've seen a lot of posts from an American site called Hope for paws (or something).  I can't watch a single one with out bawling my eyes out.  They transform neglected/abused/sorry dogs into potential pets and just as you think it's a happy ending, you realise they'e not been adopted yet.

 

Hence why I have never been to a dog shelter, I'd come home with them all.

Some of the guide dogs spent a year with different famies and when it came for them to go to train To be dogs and left there adopted families had me going then they threw in the dog with cancer....

 

I didn't watch it this week

Oh and those 3 guys who helped some of the dogs from the fire, ended up getting presented an award by that Corry actress you all fancy.  See, it pays to be nice to animals.

Well done, that's the Davies kids up all night thanks to that tirade...I get updates from a charity called Hope for Jaws, some shark lovers in Southern California go around all the dog pounds...

Watched supervet plenty of times. A tough watch at times but also heart warming.

Remember once clearing litter from a back street. Moved a sheet of cardboard to find a dead dog hidden underneath. Messes with your head for a good while. Some real nasty people out there

You should visit a shelter, we got a lurcher from Bolton years ago. Even though he's been gone a while, still go occasionally and make a donation- better to give it direct to the end users

I've now decided not to. Unfortunately the punishment for animal cruelty is insufficient. Seems insufficient interest at top level of politics to properly address this issue.

Maybe because most of them think its perfectly normal to chase a small fox around a field on horseback with guns and a pack of dogs for company and then proceed to watch it get ripped to shreads when it's that tired it can't run anymore.
