The Food Hall has opened at Bolton Market. Had a mooch around. Didn’t buy anything but it both looks and smells good. Various stalls with a variety of foods and a small bar.  I’ve said previously, t

Excellent news. Recently had a trip into Bolton's new MRI scanner and wouldn't like to think of others potentially missing out.

New Jamaican food place on St Georges road....brilliant. Give it a go.

Any recommendations Pablo?

Had the Jerk Chicken which is superb, and the Oxtail.

The steam veg is brilliant too, get that with any meal you order, defo worth it.

Not tried the juices or smoothies yet.

They have a few different fish on menu, so will work through them soon.

Gungo peas and rice on the menu? Beltin'

Hell yeah, love Rice n peas, with plenty of jerk gravy!!!

It explains why it sounded like Chickie's Disco on St George's Road last week, must have been some opening do.

Amazing that West Indian food hasn't really taken off in the UK before now. The rude boys have been there long enough.

Curried goat. Superb when done right. Can't say Mannish Water appeals though!

It is pretty big in area's with big West Indian communities.

There was one on St George's Road about ten years ago, a restaurant decked out like Scarface's pad and an adjoining takeaway, decked out like Albert Steptoe's pad...Nice couple had it, lad's name was Mark iirc, they had a great chef and the food was spot on. Didn't last though, became a West Indian/African place with a daft name shortly after (which also didn't last).

This new one, is in the same shop.

I like the taste of Caribbean bit find it a bit on the hot side if I'm honest and they like sucking the bones a bit much for me. Do they do milder stuff there?  Oh, and is it clean? Stars, please.

Brand new so seems spotless, it was not that spicy at all, but I may just be too used to hot stuff.

Will try the Pepper Steak tonight.

A former wanderersways poster had a Caribbean place I think

I like the food

But last time i bought curry goat from the original gaff on st georges road it was as though they had battered the thing with a lump hammer and thrown it in the pot. I dont mind bones but it was inedible.

Is the new gaff better?

Big fan of Nkonos on the market and hes a nice fella. His nephew is Joel Matip and his brother is Joseph Desire Job.

This new one, is in the same shop.

I'll give it a go sometime, I'm a dab hand at the old cabbage dish and jerk chicken mesen but the other stuff is more tricky to get done 'authentic'.

The Pepper Steak was the best I have tried from any West Indian place.

Melt in the mouth chunks of steak, rich gravy and not so spicy. Get some steam veg with that and your winning, and maybe a dumplin or 2 to soak the extra gravy up!!!

For those that don't like Rice n Peas, they have white rice too.

gambero?

tried it a couple of times, thought it quite good but didnt do any on-the-bone dishes as Bigtoe above

Gamberro is a whitemon, y'damn bumberklaats. :)

He did the website iirc, and plugged the place both for mate's rates on food and in the vain hope of attracting enough custom to keep it going.

Has in this here London, love a bit of salt cod fish fritters.

They have salt fish fritters on at the new one too, they were decent!

The Caribbean café round the corner from my student digs was brilliant.

Jerk chicken patty on a Sunday on the way to the pub to watch the footy was always brilliant
