He asked me a simple question about my mileage.

You don't need to jump in and fling around your usual pretentious comments... I could rise to your bait but i know what you are

Ask him to come back when he's learned the correct spelling of humorous.

Hang on. I thought you lot were the peace loving beatniks these days? 😁

Nasdaq down another 3% today over 10% since he started signing his Executive Orders.

ROE against the Sterling has gone from 1.26, to 1.3 in a week

When I was PM on a major garage/supermarket account I could be literally anywhere in a day... Carlisle, Cornwall, you name it... a big 2 litre six speed diesel lump would do 800 miles on an 11 gallon tank.

Semi-retired office based on a three day week now... pricing maintenance jobs from Brighton to Edinburgh so the younger managers will be putting the miles in if I do my job right!

From Lincolnshire?

Just curious as to how many actual trips of over, say 300 miles there and then back are done in a month?

It also seems a tad inefficient if blokes are scurrying around here there and everywhere very regularly, with lots of time lost behind a wheel.

I thought technology was gradually reducing the need for this.

We'll it's not going to be removed if it manages to develop a nuclear weapon, that's for sure.

It may be a case of how many it can manage by way of enough suitable material.

If only the odd one or two, then Orangu-Trump may think it's worth putting a stop to it.

Could probably take out the odd ballistic or cruise missile with a nuclear warhead.

I've said it a few times, he really is in danger of trashing the US economy, and whilst it may be mildly amusing if he does do it, given the bollocks he's been spouting about MAGA (and also this "hip pocket nerve" nonsense) it wouldn't be good for us, if he does steer then into a recession.

There's still plenty of folk doing 200/300 miles a day, 3 or 4 days per week in my industry. I know my ex-colleague was desperate to ditch his Tesla as, especially during winter a 200/300 mile trip meant he had to stop somewhere at some point

The markets are fickle. If he reverses tariffs, or backs Ukraine again with spending and bumps up the US Defence companies, it'll soon rise again.

Speaking of US defence companies. Last couple of weeks, European defence companies, such as BAE Systems, Leonardo's, Thales have seen their share prices soar upwards of 22%, whilst the likes of Lockheed Martin and Boeing have seen theirs drop..

I have absolutely no doubt the shareholders of those companies will be knocking on his door soon asking what WTF is going on.

Is that really a problem?

Especially given the high power chargers nowadays.

Guys have to have a break/eat/take a piss; I had a few months on the road and hated it.

Still took some time for a break from all the driving though.

Something is amiss if folk aren't stopping for a bit, especially from a safety perspective.

It is the chopping and changing that upsets the markets. Hopefully he will calm down.

Someone just needs to give him crayons and a colouring book then we’ll be fine 👍

Seems to be. I'm personally still, for now, sticking with my diesel, but no doubt will go EV at some point, when the battery will happily do 500 miles, which won't be too far away

On this, when I was doing a lot of miles, which I don't do so much now, like a lot of my colleagues, I'd rarely stop, I'd rather do 200 miles / 4 hours in one hit.

On Saturday, I drove to Bolton and back in the same day, a round trip of 390 miles, and didn't even consider stopping (in either direction) as I'd rather get to my destination as soon as I can

Looks like a couple of brands are launching solid state batteries this year.

A start on that road, although developments in other areas with cathodes etc could see different options.

I do think range anxiety is overblown in certain media though- for the majority of folk a car that approximates to 300 miles in the real world is sufficient.

Oh aye, plenty do it.

Not sure it's ideal, even if you feel OK.

I used to come home and feel like I was still moving! Sort of zoning out whilst on the road- can see why lorry drivers have restrictions!

1500 miles in one week is not uncommon.... the clients who are setting the decarbonisation rules are the very same ones who expect engineers and managers to be on call at all compass points 24/7.

Glad I'm not dong it anymore... couldn't think of anything worse leaving site late afternoon on the south coast and hoping to sleep in your own bed while watching some charge needle... all you want to do is put the radio on and get into that outside lane and munch away on the wine gums

One of life's great pleasures is finding a shop that sells Lions wine gums.

I see the American stocks are thriving under the Art of the Deal.

Dow Jones down by almost 1,000 today, Nasdaq 4% down, Tesla 14% down.

buy the dips, folks.

“Hi Donny darling, it’s me, your Musky Wusky”

”Hey Elon, missing you baby, what’s up?”

”My company has lost almost a fifth of its value today, just wondered if you can sort it please snugglewumps?”

”who am I talking to?” Who the fuck are you? How did you get this number?”

Absolutely. Ban the bomb pendants, multicoloured barnet, keffiyah and a penchant for diesel charabancs.

Oh, hang on. That's London Wanderer.

Stop being a drama queen FFS. Even the simpletons on here know that new governments do all the hardball stuff early (look at the UK shower at the moment) and then start spreading the sweeteners from mid term onwards. All this tariff war stuff will all settle down eventually and their coffers will be swollen now they don't have to subsidise freeloaders to as large an extent.

Chillax as the Americans would say :rolleyes2: They won't have enough pockets to hold their cash by the time 2029 comes around.

There'll be a new thing from The Don almost every other day. Hopefully you excitable types will start to find it humdrum eventually and stop pissing your pants each time.

Inevitable. It's all part of the plan.
