Just seen a headline that Trump is considering relinquishing leadership of NATO.

Not sure what that means exactly, as it has a top mon in already.

If he means as the biggest player, then so be it.

China will be watching, and may be emboldened by his behaviour towards Ukraine. If they have a go at Taiwan, then Trump may appreciate some help, so he needs to be careful and not burn his bridges.

There is the consideration of course, that his desire for a minerals deal, and tariffs aimed at making everything in America, could mean leaving Taiwan on its own as they're no longer needed.

it will embolden Putin, Xi Jiping and even Trump himself in his pursuit of Greenland

he's got no clue that security for Ukraine is security for Europe is security for UK and is security for the US

he's got Putin's word though that he won't try it on again

what's the worse that could happen eh

We are heading for China, Russia and US dividing up the world between each other.

Is this the great reset all the Twitter yards waffle on about?

yes, and as an added bonus, I'm sure George Clooney and Oprah Winfrey are well upset, so it'll all be worth it in the end

you can probably add the EU into that as well, divvy the lot up between those 4 "blocks"

Ace. Which one are we in? 😁

I genuinely think this might be what his whole foreign policy is based on.

Him thinking he's got some uncanny skill for reading people.

we should side with China, as they'll be the ultimate winners

I’m in

we just need some sellotape for the corners of our eyes and to empty our cutlery drawers and we’ll blend in perfectly.

Fucking hell! 😂

Ona serious note though, dictatorships don't last forever so they may have a decline at some point but not for the foreseeable I'm sure.

Russia is trying it's best to pillage Africa it seems.

Where's India in all this, are they in bed with China or anyone who will trade with them?

They're hedging their bets. They have significant territorial disputes with China. But they are part of BRICS and are still buying Russian oil.

Another one not to be fully trusted.

all in the name of peace

dunno why no one thought of or did anything like this sooner

where is south america in all this?

not heard a peep from them other than that Argie crank rocking up alongside Musk the other week with his chainsaw

Australia just quietly going about their business, they can look after themselves pretty much

Colombia, Uruguay, Chile and Peru are on ours. Or at least they were.

Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina and Ecuador are with China.

Brasil and Paraguay are kind of on the fence.

China pretty much did that in the 90's and 00's already

India is an interesting one, at present they're one of the BRICS nations, so I guess siding with China and Russia as things stand

They're also not worth a toss, in the grand scheme of things

Well...

Dunno if you read that article I linked to, but the contributors certainly shed some light onto the availability of some metals, and that they could be in for a rude awakening.

That said, you'd like to think the companies aren't that stupid! :)

Nigel told me it would be okay to draw lots on the other three, provided it's not the EU.

 Keep trying pal. Those who know, know.

Exactly the way Australia wants to world to think though don't discount the likelihood that China may have looked at it in the way Hitler perused lebensraum in Russia.

There are some simple folk around - or at least myopic.

All of this turmoil was coming way before Trump. He's just reacting to it.

Too large a global population. Too few resources. War is inevitable no matter who is in power anywhere across the globe.

The thing to do besides appreciating the fortunate times we have all been able to enjoy is to assess where would likely have the best chance of being unscathed or at least the least affected? I'll give it some thought :rolleyes2:
