March 8, 201610 yr It just shows what BWFC means to John McGinley. The passion the pride at the final whistle. Sadly lacking in todays team. Grandad (Rochdale Whites)
March 8, 201610 yr Author and if that don't make you feel old, it was also the day Zach Clough were born kin ell
March 8, 201610 yr No matter how many times I watch that, my memory is still convinced Mixu cracked his effort in from 35 yards out
March 8, 201610 yr Brilliant night. One of the best. I remember walking out after the game and a bloke was doing forward rolls across the car park.
March 8, 201610 yr Just started watching that thinking it was just the goals I've had to knock it on the head after 10 minutes to do some work Didn't realise it was extended highlights Ha ha
March 8, 201610 yr and if that don't make you feel old, it was also the day Zach Clough were born kin ell and the day that Emile Heskey made his league debut!
March 8, 201610 yr Best footballing night of my life. In fact the whole season was unbelievable. Roll on the Wolves play of semi-final 21 year anniversary in a couple of months.
March 8, 201610 yr Author Best footballing night of my life. In fact the whole season was unbelievable. Roll on the Wolves play of semi-final 21 year anniversary in a couple of months. Swindon only second to wolves in terms of atmosphere in my time at BP Happy days
March 8, 201610 yr I won't lie I got emotional watching this, from Burnden Park, the fans and the players showing what playing for BWFC and winning meant to them at the end of the game. Edited March 8, 201610 yr by 1987wanderer
March 8, 201610 yr The original second leg game was postponed due to bad weather, I remember working on a job in Farnworth outside, and I got electrocuted off the cement mixer what sent me flying.
March 8, 201610 yr Author Remember getting to the havelock to find it was cancelled and there being a load of Swindon fans in there who decided to stay and get pissed
March 8, 201610 yr Happy happy days made me smile on another grim night for me about and and not about the footie! Remember i was stood under the floodlight in the Lever on the Burnden side as thats where the Rossendale lads preferred to stand. My sis was with us as she liked the banter and the pre match drinks and she came to the occasional big game. She lived (and still does) in Hindley Green and her hubby only turned out for Leigh RL so she enjoyed her infrequent visit to Burnden and the pre match beer table banter, She cannot walk now but listens to all sports on the radio. Brings a tear to my eye remembering she saying we would win when they scored when me myself was disconsolate, thinking it was Soton all over again Edited March 8, 201610 yr by bgoefc
March 8, 201610 yr He's bald He's Scouse He'll rob yer fcukin house Steve McMahon, Steve McMahon Was one of the more memorable ditties from the Manny Road North that night
March 9, 201610 yr Remember walking down from where we parked at the college and being surprised by the numbers of Swindon There's was one of the best followings I saw at Burnden The game was like a fairytale. I didn't fancy us after the first leg, but it all just seemed inevitable (or is that reverse engineering years after the event?) But then in that period, you just felt like we would win every big / cup game
March 9, 201610 yr Author Dunno but I think I still recall after enjoying watching the embankment go mental after they scored thinking "we'll do this" Maybe I didn't But perversely I did enjoy watching a decent following on the embankment celebrate a goal, even though it was always a goal against us, sometimes it would just look ace
March 9, 201610 yr Remember being in the home end for the away leg but can't recall the home game for the life of me
March 9, 201610 yr Remember being in the home end for the away leg but can't recall the home game for the life of me I can only remember the Mixu strike everything else is a blur, soon as that went in I knew we would win.

There were plenty more chances that season too Didnt Swindon get smashed all over in trotters bar on the day it got called off?
March 9, 201610 yr Considering the state of the pitch, the football was decent. Long balls into chest so strikers have a chance, and plenty into feet. Midfielders showing energy and commitment.

March 9, 201610 yr I was less transfixed when Oldham scored in the cup, I just thought you cunts Though other notable observations of the away end was some of ours in there against qpr in 97 when home ends were sold out expecting promotion and they celebrated us scoring. And Notts County a few seasons earlier, think it was a new years day game and their fans fighting amongst themselves
