July 27, 201610 yr My daughter's boyfriend played in the same youth team as Jussi's kid and he says he was shite back then and he only got chosen because of who he was.Well that sounds objective
July 27, 201610 yr The kids got battered physically against a very strong Chorley team the 2 lads up top mullered our back 4 we did not win 1 header all night we played samuzadeh up top on his own against 2 experienced big Centre halfs Teague the captain was outstanding. Men against boys not 1 decent performance from any of the Bolton kids. The old bloke in the green Bolton kit slagging off the team the coaches and all and sundry should hang his head in shame I hope it was no one who posts on here. July 27, 201610 yr Bet he stank as well that teal top was a real sweat magnet . Seems crazy to play u-18 against hardened non league semi pros Hopefully they are all in one piece.

I had a word with him after we went 4 down and he calmed down for a bit but what a tit. Have to agree the under 18s shouldn't be subjected to a battle hardened team of experienced ex pros and semi pros unless 3-4 experienced players are in the team to help the kids out.
July 27, 201610 yr Jussis lad too small to make a keeper I thought that when he played in that 'Legends' game. Presume he's not finished growing though.
July 27, 201610 yr Last few seasons it's been under 21s Not been for the midweekers but over the last 5/6 years we've put u21s out against their first team as far as I'm aware. They're not a bad side Chorley and like you say, if it's our u18s vs their battle hardened first team there was only one result likely. Hopefully the u18s do a Sammy Lee and take the positives!
July 27, 201610 yr Just back from Chorley and that was relentless one way traffic. Most of the team way out of their depth but management did them no fucking favours. Can't see David Lee ever being first team manager. As Mounts said if your playing against a battle hardened team like Chorley you need some senior players in there to help them out a bit. Were only a few just over 18 in there.
July 27, 201610 yr Mounts - you cant of been far from me. Was you sat in the seats? To be fair to him, he was mainly having a go at the coaches, but he was a idiot.

I was sat in seats right at top of the stairs as you walk up from the cafe father in law and son with me. Edited July 27, 201610 yr by Mounts Kipper
July 27, 201610 yr Why are folk upset / bothered about the u18's results in preseason? Nobody gives a fuck during the season, so why now? They're kids, it'll be reet
July 28, 201610 yr If we end up starting the season with Mavies here pulling £20k a week potentially not getting a game as he's not in PP plans then that would itself be lunacy If ALF is at Cardiff under similar circumstances there could be potential to get a deal to be done I very much doubt anyone will match Mavies wages without us tipping something in and I'm sure Ken said he wouldn't do that which leaves us paying £20k a week for someone who isn't really going to do anything for our team I'm sure other clubs will fancy their chances of getting a tune out of him, we're just too lightweight in the middle to carry him Perhaps there is a swap deal to be done (maybe not for ALFbut for someone in a similar situation) who we can get more use out of Mavies whilst we get more use out of one of their strikers meaning no NET difference to out goings Plan A would obviously be to move him on and cut the budget however unlikely that plan might be The football league are monitoring our wage bill. The point is we need to reduce it. Not replace one expensive player with another. Also new signings fall under the financial fair play rules whereas Davies does not. Yet.
July 28, 201610 yr Bolton did a warm up last night that involved 10 outfield players trying to score against the goalkeeper They failed on a number of occasions!!

Safe to say most if not all won't make it but that's the case with the majority of academy players if one makes the first team it's worthwhile Samizadeh has something and I like Alex Perry but neither showed much last night but time is still on their side. This Alex Perry - is he a midfielder or a defender? Down as a midfielder according to the website but I'm sure I've heard people saying he's had a good game as part of a back 4?

Also new signings fall under the financial fair play rules whereas Davies does not. Yet. I'd have thought a move that didn't mean an increase would be all right I can't see anyone matching his contract here without us either paying some of it or taking someone off their wage bill in return

July 28, 201610 yr I'd have thought a move that didn't mean an increase would be all right I can't see anyone matching his contract here without us either paying some of it or taking someone off their wage bill in return They're monitoring us because they are worried we don't have the money to cover our wage bill. So I'd say we need to generally be reducing rather than maintaining. I'd love him back but I don't think it is where we are right now, even if we lost some big earners.

I'd love him back but I don't think it is where we are right now, even if we lost some big earners.Obviously I've not been clear Plan A ) Reduce the wage bill by fucking him off without paying any of his wages - only problem with plan A is that it's highly unlikely that we will get someone to pay him the same as he gets with us (as we saw with the Sheff Wed deal in Jan) Plan B ) fuck him off by paying some of his wages and let another club pay the rest. We didn't do that in Jan and Ken said he wasn't keen on paying players to play elsewhere at the end of the season My alternative was a straight swap for a season loan with another player on similar money that we may get more use out of than we will with him, I.e a striker I just can't see anyone paying his wages so plan A is out, unless we pay him to play else where I really can't see any positive outcome The worst thing that could happen is he stays here for the season robbing £20k per week offering us fuck all in return Edited July 28, 201610 yr by birch-chorley
July 28, 201610 yr Last under 21 league match (season before last) was against Arsenal .No player stood out for Bolton although a few had decent games. Arsenal had a CB who was excellent stood out a mile.Holden played at left back in that game largely unoticed it has to be said.Point is where is the Arsenal CB now ? Maybe he will end up partnering Holden in Arsenal's first eleven more likely he won't .With young players you cant really tell until they are 20 ish & at under 18 level its a real lottery so don't write them off just yet.
July 28, 201610 yr I remember going to Bamber Bridge a couple of seasons back and thinking Hayden White and Connor Wilkinson were the stand out. Actually said to my lad that Zach Clough was shit... Opinions..
