Today was why we signed David wheater.

I have a lot of time for pratley. He's puts effort in but simply he isn't good enough and he does not have an actual position. He isn't a centre mid. Absolutely definitely is not an attacking mid and definitely X 100 is not a wide player

That injury could be the most important thing in our season. It forces Parkinson's hand. And I can only see good in it. Respect to pratley and wish him well but we have bigger fish to fry

And you back the shite striker?

Moon man

Looked a break to me that unfortunately

We weren't great today and rode our luck but I thought Wheater was excellent

Solid performance good platform to start with solid as expected expect more of the same.

Phil Parkinson reports that Darren Pratley "heard a crack" as he turned out of tackle from Clarke. Will be x-rayed. #bwfc

Wheater was man on the match by some distance today - absolute class but helped by them knocking the ball long and us playing fairly deep.

As soon as Pratley went down I said to my mate - I'd be surprised if we saw him again this season. Looked nasty.

Howard is like a sweeper keeper - off his line very quickly but had little to do.

Madine worked his socks off but Proctor looked much more effective when he came on.

Crowd up for it today as well

Good victory. Need to beat blackpool now and get some momentum going.

Break might heal quicker than a ligament. Hope it's not serious he's good at this level.

Often does mate if it's "uncomplicated"

I think we'll miss his harrying

On the upside what a great feeling this is; a win and a clean sheet

Spazzy Darren is on my bus, just lobbed 2p at hm.

Tight bastard throw 10p

Looked to me like Pratley's foot was flopping about. Deffo a bad one. Can't fault anyone today. Injuries to deal with, pressure to soak up, down to 10 for last 15, 11 mins of injury time overall and the psychological scars from last season looming. Dealt with. Felt proud walking out.

Wheater MOM. One of the few who knew their job. New full back will be fine, the new Browny.

Delighted with the win, we nicked that. Worried that Vela continues to regress.

Joy

That said, what happened the last time we won on thefirst day?

Great result , under par performance. Fans well done.

No width , no ball retention, poor crossing.

The result masked a poor but solid defensive performance.

We could have been 3 down before we scored.

Buxton , Wilson and vela poor.

Better to be a lucky manager than a good one.

Roll on Tuesday - hopefully our strong bench will get a game

They didn't have a shot on target. That's not luck. Will take this every week.

Smoke bomb in the ESL at half time.

Groundswell of atmosphere from an emerging youth who are starting their careers in the lower leagues like what we did....

They're singing about Bury like they're our main rivals.wide of the mark but bring it on.

Enjoyed that today.

Wasn't a great performance but we won.

Wheater man of the match.

Come On You Whites!!!

Aye but them missing a header from 4 yards was luck

Wheater was so far ahead of every other player on that pitch that he must wonder why he bothered.

A great signing

Funny how people have differing views. I thought Wheater and Beavers were solid for the last 70 mins but dodgy the first 20. Buxton and Vela both looked ok too.

Madine I thought was crap and really didn't see much evidence of hard work. For me, Spearing was feet and ankles above the rest

Enjoyed that hope Prats is OK doesn't deserve a bad un

Loved it today in town having the crack with old trotters and talking about past games.Made up to fuck when the goal went in. It never leaves you being a Wanderer.

Opening day win, i don't care how, we've won a league game in August virtually unheard of.

A clean sheet, 10 men for final 10 mins, goal of the season contender, all fine bonuses.

Fine, no width (pitch has been made narrower so its clearly a "thing") an injury and a few ropey performances. But its the Third Division this, I've no expectations of free flowing football.

We won, I'd rather be in our shoes than our stuck in this league for eternity opponents
