Being Thrown Out

Walsall yesterday reminded me of the time when the West Midlands Police Force were at their most cuntish back in the 80's. I got thrown out twice during the same match at Walsall's old ground. I reckon my record for being booted out is tame compared to some on here. At the moment my early departures total is 5 - 4 away and 1 at home.

We were in the corner mate, think it was over New Year after we'd played Blackburn and Leeds.

Going into the banjo players section on the embankment gave them a shock didn't it haha ?

There was definitely a Geordie in our end with the kilt on, he must have known one of ours.

Not sure re Whatmore back on loan, thought that was the year later in the old third division.

Coventry in the cup.........very very naughty day indeed, especially when we went into their end before the match finished.........the all the ground emptied at the end of the match en masse and we didn't know who was who. Took a fair few slaps that day down that hill.

Got a great pic of our mob though before the match mate, will try and upload it.

Another ironic one, the pub we met in at Coventry before the match......Wyppin and Pippin or something like that.

The landlord was TB who ended up running the Stag on Daubhill a few years later.

T lives two doors from my mum and dad now.

Get that Coventry image uploaded Miami.????

Where did we cause havoc?

I've said before but got to know a lad from awol who was Wrexham and was one of their main lads.

He said the town wasn't he same after we'd been. They never got overran like that again.

I seem to remember our lot caused mayhem at Southend back in 88, I think it was the first game of the season and we took a pretty large following for a division 3 game. I think we invaded the pitch and our mob ran towards the Southend end and plenty of Bolton fans got arrested that day and quite a lot had to make court appearances.

*Whatever happened to the Horwich casuals? I remember that crew causing plenty of trouble back in the 80's.

Been trying mate, says file is too big.

Pretty sure it's also on a YouTube clip somewhere, will try and find that one.

Chesterfield away, last league game of 86 was very tasty.

From getting off the train it was virtually non stop running battles. One of their boozers was trashed.

Continued throughout the game in their end.

Hull in the cup around 85 was very lively as well. Left the Fiveways pub and it was toe to toe all the way to the game and continued again with some of our lot in their end.

Always remember Vaughan B RIP on the car park before the match pulling out what Hull's lads thought was a blade and running at them. When the filth intervened, V was carrying nothing more than a comb haha.

Port Vale when that lad had his throat slashed and almost croaked it, very naughty day. Bolton's young lot became men that day esp when faced with superior numbers and fighting against older blokes.

Send me the pic and I might be able to sort it.

I was in the Hull end that day gained entry to the terrace behind the goals outside there were easily 100 plus of us as we walk round to the terrace adjacent to our fans where their lads were there was only 20 of us left we still had a go but came of second best fair play to JG from Deane he flopped a few at the top of the stairs allowing us to escape into our end with just a few slaps.

It's weird the things that you remember from when you were a kid

If it's the game that I remember Chelsea took Burnden no matter what anyone says.

I'd agree to three quarters of Burnden but they wouldn't come into the Burnden Terrace.

Threw a few missiles and then fucked off to find easier targets.

I got to know a Millwall lad at a later date who told me Millwall and a number of other London types mobbed up with Chelsea that day. He reckoned he was there.

No way of substantiating though.

There is mate. The first of the hooligan books, Colin Ward's Steaming In, covers the match and what went on. Ward was an Arsenal fan and mentions that there were a fair few from other London clubs as we as himself with Chelsea that day.

They didnt completely take the Lever End after initially jumping over the turnstile to get out I paid to get back in why I didn't go in the paddock I don't know but I paid to get in via the turnstiles on the Paddock side of the Lever End and there were plenty of Bolton on that side of the Lever End.

Most frightened I ever was at Burnden was Sheff Utd at home at the end of 83/4. Thousands of their fans chanting win or riot. We'd not won for about a month and chose then to end the winless run. The walk up Manny Road after that match was very perilous even for a kid barely at secondary school as I was at the time.

There was bad trouble every last home game of the season throughout the early 80s.

81/2 Sheff Weds at home when they had to win to go up and we had to win to stand a chance of staying up.

82/3 Chelsea (don't think this is the one being discussed above. They went in to the Burnden Stand and were chucking seats down on the BWFC fans below)

83/4 as above.

84/5 Bradford - the week before the fire at Valley Parade. Their fans celebrating promotion but encountering a feisty Manny Road North and Burnden Paddock.

Cheers WM.

The lad in question was a shopfitter doing a job opposite the 3 Crowns. I popped into the Prince Bill for a Boddy's at lunchtime and a couple of them were in there. Can't remember how a conversation started but they were decent lads.

Quite a few of the casuals still go they are great set of lads sat with them few months back at the BWFC legends dinner.

Only been given the boot once at Fulham last game last season. Didn't make it more than 10 yards past the turnstile before i was escorted out.

They were a bit keen at Fulham that day. Loads didn't even get in.

Leeds yoof had his hairspray confiscated on way in .

Also sniffer dogs all over the place.

That is why I got the boot. They didn't let my mate in because they smelt alcohol on his breath so I asked the steward what he was playing at and that was me booted.

I think it is a legacy from an end of season game from about 20 years ago when Cardiff caused all sorts of nonsense. IIRC Neil Kinnock was arrested at the game.

It was a tremendously drunken away end at Fulham that day. Started supping at 6.30am on the train down, finished at 1am Sunday morning.
