Being Thrown Out

Walsall yesterday reminded me of the time when the West Midlands Police Force were at their most cuntish back in the 80's. I got thrown out twice during the same match at Walsall's old ground. I reckon my record for being booted out is tame compared to some on here. At the moment my early departures total is 5 - 4 away and 1 at home.

Been involved with throwing a few lads out during my time at Cov. Generally just clearing the way for the heavy mob to cart them out.

One lad must've been about 20 stone it took 3 coppers and 2 stewards to physically remove him as I cleared the way.

He had swung a punch at a female steward tbf

Bolton v Gillingham at Burnden, went in the away end with four others. Walsall's old ground late 80's, ended up playing 20 a side on a football field about 200yds behind the away end with the other ejectee's. That's it, just the two, good lad me :)

The Gillingham game, that day Oldham showed up in the Paddock, and ended up in the away end?

Not sure Con, I think it was 1983 or 84

Think the one in thinking of was 85, 3-0, Cascarino was sent off.

Wolves away was always fun particularly with the heavy handed policing we used to experience. I remember one away game which much have been early 80s - it was the time when away fans were kept behind for what seemed like ages before we were let out. The Police Commander at the game who was a bit of a dick was trying to give us instructions as to what we should do via a loud hailer and every time he tried to make an announcement we all started cheering and making as much noise as possible so he couldn't be heard. Tried 5 or 6 times before he gave up with the whole away contingent pissing their sides at him. Even the ordinary coppers were laughing. One of the funniest moments I remember at an away game.

I remember going down to their place, Cascarino scored the winner then

1 for me - Tranmere away, we were 1 - 0 up, and they equalised in injury time.  (at least I wasn't in the ground to see that !!)

Only been thrown out at a match once against tranmere in the league cup semi at their place. I'm pretty sure I was the first person to be thrown out of the Reebok though. On the open day we went and looked at our seat then went for a look round the ground and ended up in the west upper. Steward threw us out for being in the wrong stand..

The steward taking a flying Kung fu kick to the face for no apparent reason in esl still ranks highly in my favourite football memories.

My dad did the same thing. Looked at our seat then walked round the track at the front to go and look at another stand. Stewards where all over him straight away!

What's the worst match anybody has been to for violence? I think the Burnley away game back in 87 in the FA cup has to be the worst for me. Absolute carnage, especially after the game.

Probably Black Sunday for me. They just don't make home games like that anymore.

I know it's incomparable but the reebok in its infancy had its fair share of aggro.

not has bad as Burnley but Swansea away was always a bit lairy, remember them pouring out of the Swansea jack pub as we walked past their was loads of the Welsh bastards!

Never at a Bolton game - but once at Highbury watching Arsenal play City. We bumped into a few Arsenal fans who told us about a turnstile operator who would let you in if you slipped him a tenner. It worked no bother but we couldn't find a seat once we'd got in. Ended up being frog marched out after my pathetic attempt at a cockney accent fell on deaf ears. It wasn't even that long ago - Thierry Henry era.

Burnley in the cup as said. York away, Scarborough....

Think mine was around 87. Barnsley away in the FA Cup. Their ground was being redeveloped and lots of it was shut. We packed out one end and their lot were in the paddock alongside. Went on all game. Coppers waded in with dogs. We were stuck near the front with nowhere to go

Never been chucked out of a ground but got arrested going in to a Widnes/Wigan RL game at Naughton Park for supposed ticket touting.

Away......Chelsea in the FA cup & the 1-0 win, Birmingham two seasons running, Spurs in the cup, Sunderland league game.............

Home.....Bristol City on the Embankment was brutal, Luton on the Lever End with darts, Millwall on Manny Rd &

a few others on Manny Rd were lively.......plus two bad days with Chelsea & once with munichs.

I think the worst i saw was the Sunday cup game with Stoke with trouble all through the game on the Lever End.

Wembley v Tranmere..

Even mild mannered Wanderers turned into hooligans that day. Even if Tranmere had any numbers they would have been mullered.

I would be surprised if any male Tranmere fan walked away from that game without encountering a mouth foaming Wanderer intent on reliving their frustration

Inside the ground - Barnsley in the cup or Italy v England Rome 97. Outside there have been a few, black Sunday, Wembley v Tranmere or early 80's we stopped one of the Sheffield clubs from going up or sent them down and that kicked off big time. I was only a sprog at the time so might have seemed worse than it actually was

Kinell, hard to decide really. Loads at Burnden in the late 60's/early 70's. I remember a certain Zulu looking resplendent in his Fred Perry, Staprests and leather soled footwear of some description (Royals/brogues/loafers etc) regularly entering the neutral zone set up by plod between the groups of fans jus to say a friendly hello to the opposition  :D

Worst home game I would have to settle on Leicester somewhere around 1969. They tried to take the Lever but ended up legging it toward the Manny Road end. We had em baled up and they couldn't get out of them clickety gates quick enough and were trying to scale the bloody walls! It was carnage. A couple of them were stabbed and I have a vivid memory of one being rushed away on a St Johns stretcher with blood pumping out of his side and a well known BWFC fan running alongside twatting him with a half house brick! Seem to recall they won the game though - they had a strong side then including Allan Clarke, David Nish and a certain Peter Shilton.

Away from home, probably away at Oldham in the Ian Greaves era (I think it was) when City's game was off and the Kippax mob turned up. It was on for almost the entire second half - they kept coming in waves but we stood our ground and won out in the end. I had bollocks the size of coconuts the next day after a few well aimed boots found their target. Didn't feel it at the time, too much adrenaline. Another memory at Oldham was a crazed Rocker wound up by a few jeers and catcalls, coming back towards us on his Bonneville, naked from the waist up and brandishing a scimitar or similar. He got absolutely pummelled when a perfectly timed drop kick knocked him off his bike.

Must be nigh impossible for the younger fans to envisage this era. They probably think you're on magic mushrooms.????

Liverpool away. Only time I think. Was close at bayern as seen to recall sitting in a neutral section

The Chelsea game sticks in my mind in the 70s when we won 2-1 at Burnden. Probably wasn't that bad but as a young lad I was scared to death. Started in the Lever End and ended up in the Manchester Road Paddock after running across the pitch.
