I've no inclination to listen to them though, they strike me as a band that would be good in some doses, but couldn't be doing with an album of rant after rant

Actually very good live. Saw them at Crystal Palace park as Fat White Family were supporting them and Baxter Dury.

Supporting the Rolling People on December tour

Was with a bunch of former Bolton Palais devotees last night. One of them brought Bumbu rum. Head is a bit damaged this morning.

Anyway, talk got around to classic Palais tunes. Amazed with the result of the vote as I was sure and certain that it would be all Tamla/soul with possibly a ska classic getting a mention. 6 votes. Results:

Blew my mind the other day when I worked out Grace Slick was the female lead of Starship. Makes complete sense now, but I only knew her from Jefferson Airplane. I even knew they became Jefferson Starship, but it never clicked. I listened to Surrealistic Pillow on repeat for ages in my late teens (mainly because of Fear and Loathing, which got me hooked on Hunter S Thompson)

What a mad shift in style, but she made an absolute fortune, so fair play.
