I had a listen to a few of the songs yesterday

Will not be making that mistake again.

It sounded like background music from CBeebies

Very good description. Like listening to an 'In the Night Garden' soundtrack.

The new Dexys album is awful, the Guardian review has it as "at turns discomfiting, brave, baffling and hugely impressive" so maybe it's just me.

before Glastonbury I knew two Sparks songs - This Town and My Way

I knew there was a documentary that's meant to be alright

but that's it

instantly got into them watching their set

started listening to everything they've done

gutted to see they've already toured Manchester this year

their documentary was good as well, starts with the line "your favourite bands favourite band", I thought "yeah let's see if Faith No More get a mention"

and they did, turns out they collbaborated

top blokes as well

my new favourite band

The song they did with Cate Blnchett dancing is fucking brill.

But you have to be careful, @Not in Crawley has the final say on whether or not we’re cool enough to listen to them.

It hasn’t improved

and Post Malone is higher.

What do you think of the album? I know you’re a fan.

What hasn’t improved?

what is post Malone?

The album; very difficult to be objective, as I am a Dexys nut, so any new music is a gift from the gods. That said, I am enjoying it, most songs are good and interesting, some are brilliant. Looking forward to seeing it performed as a narrative, all across the country in September.

Aside of the music, there’s a group of other Dexys nuts, so it will be great to meet up and share more wonderful nights with them.

Being 6th in the chart hasn’t improved it.

But like you say, if you’re nuts about them it’s always going to be easier.

That said, I’d describe myself as nuts about Chris Cornell but even I know he had some bad days in the studio.

Enjoy the gigs mate☺️👍

How pooh I think it is.

you posted the chart position as though being 27 sales behind Post Malone makes the songs suddenly better.

Still sounds like background music to a kids party to me, but it’s subjective of course.

You don’t normally post chart positions of albums. Most posts have a reason for appearing so I assumed you were pointing to its popularity as validation of some sort of quality.

Boris Johnson was popular, but absolute dogshit.

Anyway, all of no real importance. At least DMR aren’t running the country 😁

Ah we said that, they'll probably always turn up there and just do random gigs but this tonight was great there were about 200 here of that. I shouted "Come on Whites" between songs and got a thumbs up from Rob 😂 great evening, they're just good people

Rob was in the fan zone yesterday, he said it was the first Saturday in a long time he wasn't working, they still do the Rope & Anchor on Sunday nights helping up and coming musicians, top lads and lass

Spotify's new AI DJ feature is pretty good

one of the features it that it picks out stuff you might like whilst playing artists you do like

anyway

anyone ever heard of Klaus Nomi?

me neither, but it just chucked this one my way, from the 80s, with just 128k streams to date, so a proper hidden gem for me

state on him as well

Saw a bloke looking just like that in the Bay Horse in Horwich recently. Was rattling on about cheap theatre tickets and scoffing snootily at the locals.

Strange video, only watched it once! Beautiful song.

I don't know much about Dexy's but that song is lovely.

Going to give the album a bit of a spin, had a bit of a fill of young guns post punk at the moment and I have to say I'm not feeling the new stuff by Yard Act which is a bit of a shame as they are a great band live.

Sparks have released the album of the year for me so far - the young pop guns taking a beating from the older pop aesthete's

Or maybe I'm just middle aged and stick of hearing 20 years olds trying to sound like Gang of Four and Television when I can just listen to well...Gang of Four and Television.
