Restaurant Recommendations

I'm sure I've asked this before. Looking for somewhere on Saturday to take my Mrs as I was working on Valentine's day and we've got a rare night to ourselves.

Cherry Tree or Nick's would have been our choices but they're both full. Il Toro would have been our other but I've heard it's gone downhill.

Hopefully looking for somewhere with a bit of class where she can get her glad rags on - where we can have a drink before and after - and even better if it's got a few places to drink nearby.

Any suggestions from the WW dining club?

P.S. Not Heathcoates :-)

Might have covered up the restaurant name on the menu. And who knows how many places sell a product called a Big Mac?!

Fwiw I’d book Baci mate. If it goes well let me know and invite me next time 😂

They do a nice steak

Pizza, Id not bother

Another vote for Baci here. Been tonight funnily enough. Generally pretty well priced compared to other places.

Not a fan of Casalingo. Been 3 times now and not come away satisfied once. Like someone said previously though, Duke William is a bonus (or a wander down to Rose & Crown or the Black Bull if you fancy a leg stretch)

Baci is closest restaurant to us but wife won’t go in. The only time we went in there the manager ripped a young waitress a new one in front of us. Fucking bullying cunt!

If that happened in front of us we would never return either, no need for it.

Bistecca in Adlington is nice but a fair trek for most of you.

Going out for a meal is a special treat these days, no longer a fortnightly occurance I can tell you!

Apparently we’re all out in restaurants 7 nights a week.

Not been out once this year.

Seems like @little whitt alone is keeping Horwich's restaurants afloat during these lean times! 😁

Everyone who is going out is sticking everything on credit cards with no intention of ever paying anything back

Probably

After a season of ifollow, I want to try that Chinese place with the robot waiter.

Sounds too bad to be true.

Went to Roka last night at whatever area of Bolton that is - Bradshaw? Food was spot on but service a little slow.

Didnt matter to us, we weren’t going anywhere so had a full night of it

Bradshaw. Yeah it’s decent Rokka. They have another one nearer to you in Darwen as well or they certainly did have.

Kinell, one month straight after Christmas- traditionally a quiet time for pubs etc. I don't think you'll be alone.

We had a takeaway last night, 20 quid (as we share a meal for one - lord knows how some fat fuckers put it away)

That's 2 quid shy of a pint and a large wine in our local.

Went for a kebab at Santinis takeaway on Tong Moor Rd last night. £13.75 for a mixed kebab! Pricey but it was bang on with plenty of meat.

Has anyone tried the new one on the a6 in Westhoughton?  Ewe I think it’s called.

Tried Ewe before Christmas a few weeks after they'd opened. Food was amazing.

Service was horrific but they'd only just opened and had a load of non skilled staff in and a couple of experienced managers trying to make it work.

Waited nearly two hours between starter and main.

Will definitely return as its a nice setting and good food.

Heard mixed reviews, similar good food, poor service

Also heard from 5 different people that they've ordered beef wellington and been told they don't have any 🤷

Come on, someone must have tried that Chinese with the robot waiter?

How was that? My Mrs loves Angela Harnett.

We are spoilt, so many good restaurants and street food places. Also you can eat really cheaply and very well if you know where to go, plus so many deals available.

We were in London for a Dexys do at Royal Albert Hall, so making a full day of it, went to Cafe Murano. Really nice good and OTT service. Lots of different bits and bobs, champagne for starters, reasonably priced house red, I think we got away at around £250 or so.

Distinct lack of pubs around RAH.

Yeah, there is. There's one decent one we go in before the Oliviers each year but Kensington isn't blessed with really good pubs.

I've not tried the one in Bolton but there's a few Chinese restaurants in the Benidorm/Albir area with them.

I've never been served by one though as we tend to go for the all you can eat & drink (2 hour limit) option
