This. From what I've seen, every set of fans visiting Athletico for an away game get the same treatment. And yet the same fans can visit any other club / city Europe without the same problems. You'd think that eventually Uefa would do something. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of fans who do ask for it, but the blanket abuse of all visiting fans at Athletico matches is a joke.

Does it happen with Real Madrid matches as well? - I presume it must do

The media coverage pisses me off. Show same 50 idiots chanting Gibraltar over and over and say what an embarrassment. Ignore the fact that the government isn't arsed that it's own citizens are getting assaulted for the crime of being a football fan. I still can't believe what happened to us in Madrid and the reaction of people when I got home that the fans must have deserved it.. 10 years later nothing's changed.

The Bolton fans never caused any trouble in Madrid ,they where just pissed and loud and enjoying the atmosphere .The fans got a bit aggressive at the end of the match, after the baton army charging into us about 6 times.A lad with us had 14 stitches in is head never seen him cause any trouble anywhere.

Madrid, I was there the night before, saw loads of WW people all being good. But plenty nobheads around.

Day of the game I was in bed with a hangover. Got into the ground, saw Bolty and Jr then watched the brutality outside. The mentality of people reacting the coppers smashing people, telling them they are out of order, to get smashed themselves.

Afterwards, walking back into town, the stormed the road we were walking up, but the other side from me. Battering everyone. It was 50/50 and I got lucky, young lad at the top beat to fuck, was only about 16 and looked like a train spotter. Animals.

Now, I won't go to Spain (only Catalan areas) and don't buy anything Spanish. Fuck them.

The map showing what areas BWFC gave us to avoid, turned out to be the best districts.

didnt some of our lot end up fighting with others of our lot in the oirish place?

Went in the night before the game, full of pikey's trying to dip you.

i have a thing about irish bars :)

went in naturbier on santa ana

walked out without settling a 300 euro bar bill - it was them serve yourself pumps

genuinely forgot

so much so, we were stood in the square a couple of minutes later when half a dozen of em came out and we happily paid up

Croal docker 9 Was you there that trip, aren't you one of the original warbies lot ????????.

One of my favourite memories of Madrid was watching a wanderer who had one of the fuckers by the throat whilst lifting their helmet visor with his other hand so he could get a proper punch in.

A splendid effort sir.

I was full of the bleeding flu in Madrid. Must have picked it up on the flight over. Fucked the trip up to an extent but enjoyed the atmosphere in Plaza Mayor. The beer tasted like effluent thanks to the bug I'd picked up.

Invited to travel with Zozzytours only to find out we were flying to Alicante, spending a night in Benidorm and I was doing all the driving to and from Madrid! Bumped into Carlos inside the Vicente Calderon as well as Peter Nicko and had the pleasure of the company of plenty of WWayers in Plaza Mayor. Even saw Zico meet General Franco. (Photos below)

Also bumped into some real old school Bolton lads in that square which was an absolute pleasure. They were trawling the local shops for air guns to shoot at Megsons Merry Men :D

Hypocritically, I was probably being over protective of my lad, then in his mid 20's (when I think what I was up to at 16 on the terraces, fuck knows why!), and we avoided any trouble. He had a ball later with some of the stalwarts on here whilst I tried to sleep my way out of the flu as I had the long drive back to do to Alicante the next day!

Just missed the goings on at the Irish Bar between Bolton lads. Avoided the baton charge by the pigs (a word chosen carefully for those cunts) and generally had a good time through the infestations haze. Vague memories of some cockhead whipping his old man out and pissing all over a night club dance floor (and a few patrons) and getting us all thrown out, Remember a short look around Rayo Vallecano's stadium but gutted I didn't do the Bernabeu tour.

Didn't know Sir Bradley Wiggins was a Bolton fan, wonder if Jason Kenny is.

What can UEFA do though? It's like when any English team goes anywhere in Europe the police are heavy handed but nothing is done. Law enforcement is a separate issue and controlled outside of the game

Doesn't make it right but just saying that nobody can stop it. Fans fight back plays into the hands of the media. Lose lose situation.

Is it English fans or British fans? Do Celtic, Rangers and other qualifiers get similarly treated by the Spaniards?

It seems they have it all sorted for the bars too. Get them pissed, make your money, then we'll be along and knock them back to their hotels.

Horrible manky bastards they are. And that's after seeing them at numerous games up in Scotland. Soon as they pipe up with any of their pro Ira chants the police should have free rein to cave heir moronic skulls in. But they have a butter wouldn't melt facade that the police buy into

Hearts and st Johnstone both had tough times with foreign police in recent times and believe Aberdeen are forever getting grief although they often deserve it IMO. So looks like it's a consistent anti British approach from foreign plod which fits as Celtic done associate with Britain as we all know.

To be honest I thought the police were pretty much spot on with us in Europe besides Madrid. I reckon the problem is specific to Spain and pretty consistent with clubs from all over Europe having problems there.

Rangers in Manchester, I was there on the day. Crikey.

Iirc Aberdeen played AM in one of the earlier rounds that year and they had the same experience that we had so it wasn't completely unexpected

Bayern have made a complaint to UEFA regarding the actions of the Madrid Police towards their fans in the ground

Now its a German club rather than British, I bet UEFA investigate

Did we complain?

I think it's the case that UEFA don't do owt if it's outside the ground

I know it happened inside when we were there but don't remember if anything happened after whether it be a complaint or a response

Didn't we both get fined?
