Bradford has a familiar story to many northern towns, no industry to speak of anymore, a larger and more successful neighbour. Although I wouldn't say thay are a bad example, the council in the last few years has really done some amazing work in sealing a rift between some of the communtities (which was down to poverty as well) and its a lesson a town like Bolton could learn from in terms of starting to get their house in order.

In light of not having the economic advantages of Leeds, they are starting at a much lower base, and one of the key points of the straetgy is to inverst in culture and also attract cultural start ups as the rents are lower than in Manchester or Leeds and so you can get bigger studio space. This brings/keeps younger generations in the town (well, that's the long term plan) its something that's happened in Folkestone and Margate and the benefits (although not perfect) are starting to work both in terms of regeneration and economic growth. The council and msueum and cultural sector work very closely. The work they did over covid for older peole, poorer communites was exceptional which lead them to shortlisted for MoTY and now a step on to CoC, which isn't just about bringing people to the city, but also growth from within. Hull has benefitted hugely, and I believe, given the support of the council and their forsight, that Bradford hopefully will do the same.

They can't compete with Leeds, but they can create a different offer, which they are on the road to do. As I say, large outling towns near a mjaor city in the North could well benefit from their longer term strategic thinking.

Unfortunately, we won’t have a say in it. Until the next election of course. Someone will find something to find fault with her and the others.That’s normal.

Someone will find fault with the whole of the opposition come the next election as well. Apart from Starmer and Raynor, the rest have been hidden in the background. When the next election comes, they will be open to the same scrutiny as this government.

Sunak is at least being honest about tax cuts , saying they will come but not yet. 
 

The process whereby the MPs get the list to two and then the members choose will see a lot of deals being done. Hard too see how the winner will not be a Brexiteer and anyone seen to have turned on Boris will have a chance
