Spider Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Process them. Many could be sent packing. And apparently the thousands of empty council properties are non-existent. But nobody wants a solution, that’s far too boring and the headlines aren’t scary then. Quote

Which kind of cancels the idea of spreading them around the country which was meant to be the plan. Let’s hope they don’t have to share a small room though as it might give them flashbacks Quote

It's been shown there are enough planning permissions to build the necessary houses, but for some reason they're not being built Wonder why that is Quote

Somebody already answered your question. And with a right to work they can contribute to tax to support an ageing population. There’s your start Then you’ve got solutions to the housing crisis such as this one so we can build the homes we need https://www.centreforcities.org/publication/the-housebuilding-crisis/ On top of that you’ve got repurposing disused offices etc & temporary accom. It’s perfectly doable really. But if we don’t do it and make it hard for them then that deters more coming 🙈 Quote

Spider Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 (edited) If you were desperate to flee a war torn country, or under threat, would you send your wife and kids to make the journey, or do it yourself and hope to get them to join you once you’d made it? A journey that could very easily go to shit and kill you? No. You’d go yourself. You’d live in camps and risk beatings, being robbed or whatever in the hope of a job and a chance to live in a country that rewards graft. they are not all just taking the bus to Calais from Syria, then having a sightseeing jaunt across the channel. far easier to paint each and everyone of them as a rapist/murderer then it removes any risk of a human response. Youd go mad if the police started profiling like that with football supporters Edited August 10, 2023 by Spider Quote

The latter things can be done in a matter of months. Not all 270k would require that. What do & the others who think we are full think we should do? We’d have to leave the refugee convention. That barely got 13,000 signatures last time round 😂 Not even enough to get a govn response, but they still made an effort. it’s worth a read https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/577927 Quote

Add to that schools being full, NHS on its arse, roads full, rail network at breaking point……..do you really think adding 1000s is going to help? The houses aren’t ready. There’s no where for them to stay. Quote

That’s why your comments are utter drivel. Quote
