That’s why your comments are utter drivel. I’ve always argued for controlled immigration. Not open door policy. You’re blaming immigrants for problems that aren’t caused by them & that can be solved with their contributions. That’s utter drivel mate. You and others still haven’t answered the key question here. What do we do then if you want it to all stop, leave the Refugee convention? Quote
Casino Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Thought this might by RW or MK but its def not a manc Quote

You think landlords should be rewarded for getting someone else to pay their mortgage for them. 😁 Next door neighbour is a private tenant in an ex council house they pays more the twice our rent on pretty much the exact same house and are forever having to chase the landlord to fix stuff. Boiler goes in our place and there's a heating bod there within 24hrs 365 days a year. I'm sure there's some decent private landlords out there but most don't seem to give a shit Quote

Top hubby! During the famine in Ireland, families would scrape together the fare for one person to sail to the US to find work. The plan would be to get somewhere to live and some savings to bring the rest of the family one day. JSL. Quote

MickyD Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 (edited) Just been on news that the devolved Scottish Government is considering a12.5% pay rise for Scottish NHS workers. The devolved Welsh Assembly will probably do much the same for the Welsh NHS. Meanwhile, NHS England doesn't get the advantage of English government with whom to negotiate. They negotiate with the British Government! Exactly the same happened during periods of fire service industrial action. Scotland FBU split from UK FBU to start their own negotiations with their own government. This was a very clever divide and conquer strategy by the government which does ok for the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Ireland communities but not so much the English. You’ve blamed the Tories but the Big Issue reckons housing shortage problems started 30 years ago, at least you’ve now posted a sensible comment, highlighted above. Wanting it to stop is a whole can of worms… I’d start with campaigning to stop freedom of movement across the EU a policy that has encouraged folk to chance their arm, as for refugees, economic types should be repatriated and same policy followed by every nation right across Europe. It’s a myth that all landlords are making loads of money on the back of vulnerable tenants Quote

Then every time there’s plans to build new houses we get the the protestors out complaining about new builds. Mentioned it last week, my old school teacher, ex Labour councillor, screaming on social media the we need new houses then then the other month he was at a demo trying to prevent new houses being built.
