They’re helping out those who are unfortunate not to get mortgages and giving folk a roof over their head. They should be rewarded.

They do it for free?

Well according to the big issue the problems started 30 years ago, Tory and Labour are all to blame, you want to allow more immigration which will exacerbate the problems. That’s why your comments are utter drivel.

I’ve always argued for controlled immigration. Not open door policy.

You’re blaming immigrants for problems that aren’t caused by them & that can be solved with their contributions. That’s utter drivel mate.

You and others still haven’t answered the key question here.

What do we do then if you want it to all stop, leave the Refugee convention?

Thought this might by RW or MK but its def not a manc

No ta. You think landlords should be rewarded for getting someone else to pay their mortgage for them. 😁

Next door neighbour is a private tenant in an ex council house they pays more the twice our rent on pretty much the exact same house and are forever having to chase the landlord to fix stuff. Boiler goes in our place and there's a heating bod there within 24hrs 365 days a year.

I'm sure there's some decent private landlords out there but most don't seem to give a shit

The landlord should be rewarded for their generosity apparently. 🤷‍♂️

Over 30,000 empty council houses in Uk at last count.

I've read some points of view on here but private landlords as benevolent charity providers is going in the top three daftest things posted on here.

Brilliant stuff 😁

Yes just leave you wife and kids to go to a country that will put you in a hotel for 18 months 😂 you’re in the gym everyday and having days out courtesy of the local council/charities whilst they’re over there in a war zone. Top hubby!

During the famine in Ireland, families would scrape together the fare for one person to sail to the US to find work. The plan would be to get somewhere to live and some savings to bring the rest of the family one day.

JSL.

Nah.

they should be sending the 6 year old kids halfway around the world.

the blokes should stay at home banging the goats and sheep

Just been on news that the devolved Scottish Government is considering a12.5% pay rise for Scottish NHS workers.  The devolved Welsh Assembly will probably do much the same for the Welsh NHS.

Meanwhile, NHS England doesn't get the advantage of English government with whom to negotiate. They negotiate with the British Government!

Exactly the same happened during periods of fire service industrial action. Scotland FBU split from UK FBU to start their own negotiations with their own government.

This was a very clever divide and conquer  strategy by the government which does ok for the Welsh,  Scottish and Northern Ireland communities but not so much the English.

Again tongue in cheek. As for my tenants, I was speaking for myself,  pay a lot less than the going rate.

You’ve blamed the Tories but the Big Issue reckons housing shortage problems started 30 years ago, at least you’ve now posted a sensible comment, highlighted above. Wanting it to stop is a whole can of worms… I’d start with campaigning to stop freedom of movement across the EU a policy that has encouraged folk to chance their arm, as for refugees, economic types should be repatriated and same policy followed by every nation right across Europe.

Good for you, there are a lot of sharks out there. As long as you are a decent landlord, hats off 👏

There’s loads of decent landlords, many who end up getting shafted for 1000s, money they know they will never see again. It’s a myth that all landlords are making loads of money on the back of vulnerable tenants

The presenter seems to agree with me… as does the caller. Think even you can’t disagree that the Tories and Labour are at fault. Or do you have some other point of view up your sleeve?

Then every time there’s plans to build new houses we get the the protestors out complaining about new builds. Mentioned it last week, my old school teacher, ex Labour councillor, screaming on social media the we need new houses then then the other month he was at a demo trying to prevent new houses being built.

Selling council houses and not building more was a ridiculous policy.

My mistake

Thats ok though, it must mean you don’t think the number of empty houses is bullshit.

Let’s start using those, and processing the claims. Fast. Get the ones who don’t qualify packed off home.

I doubt you'll find anybody who disagrees with that. As pointed out above, the lack of house building over the past 30 years is a disgrace, and we can thanks both Conservative and Labour for that.
