I’d say the Right are probably wondering why they haven’t got a leader like Starmer who can get away with such savage cuts while some still fawn over him. All very odd. Maybe he's a plant and right wing himself. 🤷♂️ Little fat trimming? 🤔 Quote

A lot of this is to do with control - with direction on the NHS now coming directly from government rather than via a semi independent body. I actually think that's a good thing in principle as it improves accountability - and will help to speed changes up. The trouble is the fall out for all of those who end up being affected by the job losses that are going to come as a result. NHS Managers are a bit like football referees. Everyone moans about them but the game wouldn't run properly without them! Quote

Theres a lot of our taxes being wasted if this can be stopped then happy days. Quote

I’d say that most of the previous digs at the so called ‘waste’ in the NHS (main body or quango) came from those on the right so it’s a bit of a ‘blindside’ stroke, to quote your mate. That is surprising. Be interesting and for some, painful to see what welfare cuts are coming. I thought they were going to tax the rich? Quote

If it’s any consolation, I had a meeting in Olomouc, Czechia in 1999. I looked at the computer of the director next to me and it said EU loan, 2 million Euro. Sale of Hick Hargreaves £8 million to fund the transfer from Bolton to CZ. That was May. I left in the December. I was 45. You know what I did after that. Quote

Predicted 50% reduction in our headcount is what we're being told. And we've only just started to get back on track after being put through all this 2 years ago. It's a cruel way to treat people. I can just about cope with it if it ends up being for the greater good - but it's not going to do our mental health any favours while it sorts itself out. And whoever is left with a job - it means another couple of years of messing around internally instead of concentrating on what we joined the NHS to do - which is to (hopefully) make people's lives better. Worrying times in the Kent household. Quote

Not all of this money is going on DEI employees you know! 😁😉 Correct. Unfortunately, there are also problems within the managemant and also medical staff which need addressing. Clearly saying such is taboo, but its true. Personal and anecdotal stories abound, and money alone won't change it. Won't, and can't elaborate publicly. Not new, and been going on for years, and it will take a major change of approach to sort. Quote

I agree. And I hope it works. Much as it isn't very pleasant being at the sharp end. FWIW - I think these cuts are too deep and too quick and come on the back of another restructure. But time will tell. I am flotsam and jestom in all this if truth be told. Quote

I worked at Hick’s, we pretty much had a reduction every year. We went from 750 when I joined to 220 when I left. We used to have a joke. “Are you going to the annual dance”? “Which dance”? “The annual redundance” I guess you could call that philosophical but we always had an inkling due to market forces etc. This will have been a big shock to those involved though without wanting to make a political point. The affect of job losses are the same whatever the industry you work in and the reasons why. Quote
