I fucking hope so

According to the government website, pension funds have significantly decreased their investments in UK listed equities, with allocations falling from over 50% in 2012 to just over 20% in 2023.

An alarming lack of trust in British investments during that time?

Better opportunities elsewhere.

Ultimately, their business is investing customers' money where it is going to get good returns and be as safe as possible.

Obviously, tiny tears wants that to change, which is fair enough, but conditions still have to be right.

Yeah I hope this doesn’t become a younger v older battle as everyone surely wants their parents to retire and enjoy etc. my old man keeps working but says he does it to keep his mind ticking. Think he’s mad but he does 3 days and gets about a fair bit.

It started with Brown. It went unnoticed by many for years. As to why consecutive governments didn’t change it back. Who knows. Very difficult to reverse policy sometimes especially when we entered a period of austerity after the crash maybe. I’m not making excuses. Jeremy Hunt promised to encourage investment into UK equities before the election and Rachel Reeves has promised the same. We have to wait and see. An insight into why we are talking about it below.

You’re right T.
Just to clarity for anyone thinking pensioners are well off. The old state pension is £9175 a year for people born before 1953 and £11978 for those born after. Not everyone is on the full pension for many reasons. All that after a lifetimes work. Any income over £12,500 ie. Private pension, is taxed at the standard rate. Anyone complaining about that needs to remember this. It will come to you quicker than you think.

Any graphs?

And this time I’m not being facetious, I’m genuinely intrigued as to how the likes of, say, Spain France and Japan manage it when we’ve failed for decades

Do they put the same amount in? Do they have overbloated NHS type organisations sapping billions out of the pot? - I don't know the answer to these things, but clearly there must be a major difference if other places are better than here

Dunno.

The Tories had 14 years to improve things and I assume they didn’t.

Labour have 5 years to do something positive

What, birth rates and people living longer? 🤷‍♂️

I’m one of the lucky ones, Reform will have been in government by the time I retire so I have nothing to worry about.

Percentage of GDP spent on pensions in UK isn't that high compared to other countries anyway.

The compulsory private pensions now happening in the UK should have started 40 years ago but its a start. They'll have to means test pensions eventually. Australia does and they're very low in the above list, and its projected to get lower.

He might know something we don't. SKS and Reeves are planning to outlaw contraception, smoking and alcohol?

I warned 'em.

Absolutely mate. I work with one of his family members.

Quite ironic on that patch this morning, hundreds of flags appeared overnight stretching from Heaton Park up Victoria Ave, to Central House, on every lamp post either side of the street, about a mile long

Fascist, nazi racists must be everywhere eh?

Loads here too - union flag, three lions, St George cross beach towels on every sandy stretch it seems. The occupants urgently seeking brown skin too.

For a moment I thought I saw Antifa setting up in a truck at Port Beach car park then I realised it was a delivery vehicle for anti freeze which had a sliding door partly open.

Antifa/Union wankers...said this week in a memo that...."at this rate, we cannot afford to man this many counter protests"

They were gobsmacked how many protests took place last weekend.  Their budget allocates for 2 to 3 counter protests per weekend. Other than that, they are gone,  by their own legislation and admission ....could not script it 😂

The Lion rises, those cunts are absolutely snookered
