Conservative/Reform versus Labour/Greens. With the poor old Lib Dems still trailing in third place. None of them will want to lose their places on the greasy pole.

Sad, isn't it?

Yes, Lib Dem or SNP could become "King makers"   - what a thought that is....

Just seen that. I suspect there'll be a ton of this stuff coming out over the coming weeks.

He kinda looks like an evil Michael Owen

The Lib Dems are at least sensible (mostly) unlike some of the ludicrous stuff from the greens and reform.

Let's be honest though its about time our FPTP system is thrown in the bin, even Bolty is for it.

It’s not even practical, because the bones would just stick out and pop your tyres.

Now that the two party system appears to be on its last legs then FPTP would seem to be inevitable. I’ve not got a problem with it really.

Problem with PR is the increasing likelihood of mixed, coalition type governments.

Might sound good, but a strong chance that nothing actually gets done.

All these parties may also make coalitions more likely, but they can be formed from similar minded parties, as opposed to every Tom, Dick and Harry each wanting their own piece of the cake.

At least under the current system, if the incumbents fuck up, they can be kicked out, and someone else given a chance to sort things (or fuck it up of course).

I remember some used to hate the idea of proportional representation. In fact one on here vehemently apposed to such a suggestion.

He is now fully on board of course. Yes it's the worlds wrongest man of course so don't worry about that little detail.

I can understand people being actively opposed to FPTP in a two-party system. But we're moving into a different world now. It seems inevitable in the next ten years. Not a problem for me.

We have FPTP now

It's just because it benefitted his team at the time, then changed when it seemed Reform needed the help, so Mr Wrong could well change his mind again. Which is ironic as he likes to clobber Spider over the head with such regularity for the exact same thing.

But back on topic, FPTP is a really outdated and silly system this day and age. Much like our parliament if I am being honest.

I agree re FPTP. However, parliament is a different issue. I can't see a better vehicle.

Yes I nicked it off X.

I get you, it does need updating though, no life peers (is that going anyway?) and massively reduced numbers.

I would also reduce MPs and tie it to population and get rid of the ridiculous speaker position.

The Speaker is the referee. You can't have a game without a referee. Most of them manage to remain relatively impartial, with the exception of that oily little twat John Bercow.

I knew he went into the Lords but didn't know he was even more dead... still more able than Reeves

More than one controversy over the current speaker's impartiality.

No issue with the position, just the ridiculous situation that it has to be taken by a MP and that all main parties don't put a candidate against them.

Therefore the people of that constituency don't have a vote. That is unbelievably stupid.

Easily fixed. Appoint the Speaker and have somebody else stand for his or her seat.

Aye you'd think so.

Beat me to it mate. Spiders family motto.

I'll wager that the 'owd, thick racists' he refers to all managed to put their crosses in the correct box.
