I also can’t see her losing a vote of no confidence, it needs a huge swing, I think.

it’s going to be interesting, for sure.

It doesn't need a huge swing. And there are 60 plus Tories who forced her into the delay A50 vote..who I assume would vote against her IF she is seen to be "kicking the can" again.

Only need 10 to vote the other way....

When she loses this next vote, I can see an extension to Article 50 becoming a real prospect - now that would be ridiculous

IF she loses then an extension is a virtual certainty given she has committed to a "no deal" vote then an "extension vote".

It seems she will ask parliament to vote on whether they will agree to vote for the deal with a tweak to the back stop this is at the behest of the EU who said if she can get that through parliament then its likely the EU will make the required change to the backstop.

That is just made up. She might be blindly hoping the EU will make such a change but she's spent the past two weeks trying to achieve such a change following a parliamentary vote to show such a change would be a success....and failed.

She discussed parliamentary plans with Juncker...but that's it.

The outcome is binding on her. The EU don't have to grant it and then we'd need to pass any granted extension into law - but the no deal and extension votes would compel the government to act in that way - just not change the legal position until further legislation passed.

She has no interest in negotiating anything further with them, and vice versa.

It isn’t binding on the government

That is the plan being discussed, Mays deal with Cox amendment and and was discussed with Juncker last night.

Right wing journalists are even spinning this as a "desperate hope" rather than expectation. But the most balanced journalists reckon plan is to simply try and avoid a defeat on meaningful vote whilst simultaneously not being brought down in a no-confidence vote...this is nothing but self preservation but looks like time has run out.

Do you reckon the vote will pass when it's held then? - so we can crack on and actually set about leaving at the end of the month

Didn't May go through a vote of no confidence recently? Don't think another one can go through within 12 months.

It can't, so she'd have to resign.....and I think she's too stubborn to do that

Especially if this happens: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6793499/EU-charge-Britain-1billion-month-Brexit-delay.html

(which it won't, it'll just be the DM trying to cause a shit storm as usual)

She went through one via her party and one via parliament....party ones are limited to every 12 months.

Parliamentary ones are whenever the leader of the opposition calls for one and either the government accepts or the speaker decides such a vote should take place....there is no time limit.

I've been away for a few days so not kept up to speed with developments, where did you read that the EU would acquiesce on the backstop Mounts?

I'm pretty sure its made up....even the Pro-May Sun lot are calling it a "hopeful wish" that the EU would change their mind at their March council meeting....

Another Mounts in a "making stuff up" shocker?

It is currently on the BBC, not that they are terribly trustworthy, mind!
