Smalling and Jones are a bit poo.

I really rate Lingard and Rashford though.

agreed.

smalling and jones shouldn't be at united, really really bad

like rashford for his pace etc

can't believe wellbeck is in, he's toilet

agree with pabs on cahil, best days are gone for me, and not starting for chelsea

lingard been one of their best players and score a good few

We haven't got an outstanding candidate for the keeper's shirt.

Walker best of bad bunch at RB

No decent CBs or LBs

Sterling, Alli are definites, as is Kane. Rest of the squad is a much of a muchness.

I think this is a constant reoccurring issue, based on their club form both over the last 12-18 months its a no-brainer.

However neither has looked anything like the players they are for their clubs when with England. Alli in particular was dogshit at the Euros. Granted this has been the case with plenty before them and will be for plenty after them.

I think loads of these multi-millionaires just aren't that arsed about England and/or are shit scared full of fear when representing them.

Someone told me the solution is picking the best "team" rather than the best individual players, which makes sense in theory. But how the fuck do you do that in real terms?

you'd have Lingaard starting based on form - his strength is running at players, being direct and getting shots in and around the box, def a big goal threat if used right

not sure if him, Kane and Sterling can start in the same team mind

Welbeck not been a revelation since going to the arse, yet seems to have done ok for England.

Can't be arsed checking but I'd guess his record of goals per game isn't too bad when compared to others in a similar position.

Not sure it really matters who is selected. We lack world beaters so we need a good man manager to get the most out of what we've got.

While I get your point they should be much better, but last time Belgium lost a game was June 2016. They are very good.

Yep that may of come across wrong. They should be out of sight 11v11 but we will give them a game, depending on it being a dead rubber or not

Welbeck has 15 in 36 for England, which looks good, but 10 of his goals are against shite.

ie
Lithuania
Malta
Moldova x 2
San Marino x 3
Scotland
Slovenia x 2

Might as well take Crouch.

Would imagine a fair bit of international stats are along those lines.

I wonder how many shrek got against similar teams.

As for crouch, as for a late sub when you're desperate....

I'll throw a player in, completely left field; that little fucker at Burnley; Barnes. Plays up front on his own and annoys the fuck out of defenders. Scored a few too.

We've got Kane and guys with pace but he's a bit different and gives a different options.

A six fingered ALF if you will.

you can do a similar breakdown of Rooney's record breaking tally (someone did at the time he got it)

mostly shit teams and a few pens

Might sound odd, but I'd have Townsend and IF fit (a big if), Andy Carroll. In that Iceland game we totally lacked a plan B. If we find ourselves in that position again this summer, chuck these two on. Townsend is a great crosser of a ball, and Carroll is great in the air. Direct and ugly, but might be our only option.

With all he has won at Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter, Chelsea, Man United etc., he must be absolutely shitting himself that a possible challenger for his job is living just up the road in Little Hulton.

Don't disagree at all. Not sure about carols fitness; but townsend always done ok.

Some players seem to get better playing at a higher level. Others seem to plateau and not step up.
