They always send kids to the shit non-league games don’t they?

Think it was also advertised as a Bolton 11. Meaning the same thing

Initial announcement didn’t mention it as an XI and it’s still listed on the website as a first team fixture. As a means of comparison, the Clitheroe friendly is listed in the U23 fixture list instead and was indicated similarly in the fixture announcement. Tons of kids there tonight in BWFC shirts, bit of a missed opportunity for a bit of a PR boost in light of recent events, even if it’s just a couple of first team players nipping down to sign autographs for an hour.

Anyroad, game finished 1-1, Bolton equalising in the last few minutes. BWFC were captained by Harry Brockbank who recently signed a pro deal. He’s a right back if anyone’s wondering.

BWFC let us and a lot of local Bolton fans down tonight, we were told that the first team would be making an appearance and we advertised it as such, as did BWFC, we can only advertise what they tell us and as has been mentioned BWFC advertised it as a first team friendly, don't forget you lot who criticise and mock Atherton Colls, the majority of us have been Bolton fans for a long long time, personally I was a season ticket holder for over 20 years through the dark days of the 80's and 90's, and have watched them since 1969

Did we win

Finished 1-1. 86th minute equaliser for Bolton. Fourth year in a row that it’s been a score draw, no wonder the bookies weren’t offering any odds this time around.

i've not seen it advertised anywhere, other than on here, and if anyone thought a first 11 would be appearing they are under illusions.

good luck to Atherton Colls and all local teams by the way

I might be naive but we were told it was first team, certainly for a half, never transpired. Given the first team shit out at the weekend then they still haven’t played a minute. I’m under the impression that they are still on strike. Based on that alone.

I see the MountsKipper FC old boy scored for Colls. ????

Interesting theory. Says it hasn't been resolved as of an article 5 minutes ago

Who told you it would be a 1st team?

I’d never have thought that as these games never seem to be. Especially when it was supposed to be coming 3 days after the 1st team’s first friendly in Scotland....makes no sense

I’ve also seen zero advertisements from BWFC as first team. Yes it’s on the fixture list but again that happens every year; perhaps to aid the Colls? As if they were over specific that it would be u23’s it could harm the crowd.

When was the last time our first team played Colls?

All fair points bar the top one as I'm unsure who said it will be a strong team.

So this Halifax game at weekend (which I’d normally consider to be U23/Reserves) now surely must be a first team match. I said our ore season schedule looked threadbare, it now looks like utter chaos.

I’m not getting into who said what but the club, as an entity, said first team involved. The squadlist they provided reflected that. They didn’t promote it but then they are on bare bones and it’s not their game to promote.

Interested in a Colls ST, any links or pointers?

There is the Colls website, not sure how often it is updated or you can ring any of the committee for details, pm me if you want any contact numbers

In previous years it’s been listed as a XI fixture both in terms of all announcements and on the fixture list from the very beginning whereas that only seemed to happen yesterday morning and even then not on the U23 list as per the game at Clitheroe.

In previous years the likes of Connor Wilkinson, Samizadeh and even Amos one year have played so there have at least been the odd player on the fringes of the first team squad in the team plus a couple of non-playing first teamers showing up.

Going to Halifax on Saturday and at this stage you’ve got to expect a few first team players or the list of potential games is getting ever shorter.

Out of interest, how does that stack up against a normal league game? - I don't know if Colls get 50 or 500 for a normal home match.

I'm guessing them getting close on 700 through the door is a pretty big deal for a very low level non league outfit

Averaged 231 last season with a high of 506 against Scarborough so certainly well above average and a decent payday I’m sure, albeit down on previous BWFC visits when it’s been well in to four figures.
