Fuck mop, hardly.... he's played a few pre-season friendlies thus far.

Out of curiosity Jay, how long is the list of lost talent now?

Doesn’t matter. Our current management team have no intention of letting our youth near the first team

(That may be the correct approach and the one best server to get results)

Which of our youth should be in the first team ?

As I said. Maybe none of em are ready. Maybe it’s the correct decision.

Nat Phillips never got near the first team. Now he’s playing time with liverpool?

However i reckon even if we have a world beater in our youth they wouldn’t get any time.

I'd get rid of the youth system and just steal big club rejects. Or get together with a few other local teams and have a Lancashire youth team. We never get any players from it. Put the money into community links and local kids football.

Vela,  Clough. Holding.

who the fuck is nat phillips

A young Centre Half who was on our books once, went to Liverpool, and he's played in one friendly for them - so therefore he's definitely going to play for England and be worth £50M within 2 years...................

Got to concede that point, it'd be interesting to know what our outlay is on it compared to what it brings in. City and united hoover up loads, just grab what leaves the net miles cheaper.

Talking to a scouse friend, who is really impressed with him

So for the 3 players mentioned, we've received back maybe £7M (and that's being generous) - I reckon that we've probably spent a whole lot more on the youth/academy in the last 10 years or so

I can see why some clubs are now getting rid of the youth set up, and just picking up the "overspill" from some of the larger clubs

I know the idea is that you bring your own youth through, and then it saves you money in the long run, but I'm not sure, unless you uncover a real world beater, that you're ever even going to break even

I think Bolton are 2nd currently of all academies, in terms of current pro players produced.

Painful that people were going mad about him maybe not being in charge of the academy yet he wanted his own son to leave. I wouldn’t let him near the club with that attitude. Can’t convince normal lads to stay if you don’t want your son there
