Anyone remember WHUJohn? :D

Fan's from other clubs only come on WW because they have no decent forums of their own .Nobbers forums, oh dear why bother.

I don't think you can underestimate the impact that a sustained period in the Premiership can have on the support of a club. Loads come crawling out of the woodwork. You'll obviously lose a few due to relegation, but a decent amount do stick around...... just look at Wigan for example.

It'd be interesting to compare the crowds of PNE, Bolton, Blackburn and Burnley, if none of the clubs had ever been in the Prem, but spent a decent amount of time together at the same level.

Aye totally agree.

If you take away Real Madrid’s European Domination and La Liga titles I reckon they’d have a similar fan base to us.

I've read some utter tripe in my time but this is ridiculous.  Anyone who knows anything about football knows Bolton don't come close to North End in terms of club size.  We have a far better history.  2 titles,  a double,  the only team to go a season unbeaten,  the biggest win in English football.  Bolton remind us of their draw in Munich.  As for crowds,  home crowds should be higher in horwich as you've had over a decade of premier league football therefore the potential to capture casual fans from Chorley etc. That,  added with your much bigger population,  250k v 150k approx and you should be getting 10k more than us at least. You're not.

Now let's look at away support.  For the 3rd season running we're taking more to you than you took to us despite getting a lower allocation (Why we can't have the whole stand and segregate in your east stand I'll never know) and you charging us more than we charge you.  But it's not just you.  We took 6k and 7k to Blackburn the last 2 times we played them.  We'll take that this year. Plus 5k to Wigan.  We have away support like you could only dream of.

It's not just your new ground either.  Many of you will remember thousands of Preston locked outside burnden with loads more in the home end despite us going down and you going up.

2001 is another example.  5k Preston v 2.5k (approx ) Bolton at each other's ground.  Then the play-off final at least 10k more Preston.

At 1 point you could always throw "What division are you in ?"  At us. But not now. Not only do we have much better support,  we have a much better team

We are superior

You last won the league in 58, that's like Botlon fans bringing up the FA cup, it means nothing now. Blackburn winning the league in the 90s means nothing now. Most fans werent even alive when Preston or Bolton won anything..

It's a cock waving exercise at best.

Like teams who go to City and criticize their attendance whilst getting battered 5-0

And wasn't there one from Plovdiv or one of the other early European teams we played. Fairly sure there was a bit of a social gathering with him and his mates.

Rabotnik?

Aye 1938 so he was at least being generous

Preston last won the league in 1890 so I'm guessing out of most fans living memory so a pointless stat to use in bragging rights. Wanderers and Royal Engineers won a trophy or two around the same time

Bit like how Huddersfield put a couple of gold stars on their badge to remind people of something they can't remember

There's two more teams we don't hear much about these days. I think they play in their local Boys Federation they were relegated so far! ;)

Oh yea, I miss read it they finished runners up in 58, last won it in 1890. Talk about living in the past.

do Arsenal not count?

if you mean league and cup - you should bear in mind it was two centuries ago and consisted of just 27 games (22 league, 5 cup) as opposed to Arsenal's 38 in the league (58 games played in total including all cup games)

either way, when folk say "invincibles", they think of Arsenal

you know them posts about fishing, chucking the bait in, needing a bigger net ... suspect there's a couple of them on Preston forums right now.

Still, gives them summat to talk about. :)

When we play Preston I always think they have under achieved in the last 50 years.

Apart from Preston which are the biggest towns/cities yet to host premier league football ? Bristol, Plymouth, Carlisle, Exeter, Worcester,  ?

As three of those have Premier Rugby teams I would say only Plymouth is a bigger place yet to host Premier league football or rugby.

"Two centuries ago" in the context of Zico's post isn't the same as 200 years ago.

I had to google Derped.

130 years, near enough

in the same year the Eiffel Tower opened and was the tallest structure in the world, but you don't hear the French still banging on about that
