Keith Hill

Deserves its own thread...

Just read the latest bit of waffle. Sounds like he’s trying to talk himself out of a job.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t want Megson from the off. I watched the Villa game in the pub (1st home game for him). It was never going to take much for me to want him out. In fairness, borne more out the fact I hated him as a player.

I was happy with Coyle onwards at the time. I also didn’t want Rioch at the time, can’t remember who I did want but probably someone like Terry Cooper

Worst day of being a wanderers fan was at Accrington ,ok the sending off was a joke

but 7-1 was a disgrace

I was convinced Lennon was the next Rioch/Allardyce, but more likeable and approachable.  Couldnt think of a negative thing about him.  Then I realised he didnt know how to set a team up.  Ditto Coyle.  Ditto Hill.

Even then, let’s not forget we almost made the play offs under Lennon. A real Sliding Doors moment for us and Leicester.

I think I've tried to give them all a fair crack of the whip.  Like most, I was incredulous when we hired Megson but he proved, for a spell at least, that he was up to it.

Freedman is the one who annoyed me most.  I totally bought into what he was saying that first season only to realise the bloke was a complete charlatan by season 2.

That was Freedman

Was it? Losing the plot. Come to think of it, that’s even more surprising in that case.

It was largely the side he inherited off Coyle and was still in the top half when he took over, I think.  New manager bounce, a few fortuitous wins and then he decided to tinker for that last game v Blackpool

I think spackman was discussed at Rioch time

I wanted him

I wouldn't have sacked megson but wasn't anti Coyle

How wrong I was

The utter cock

We were 18th when Coyle left in October so not a bad effort to end up so close to the play offs.

The nail in Coyles coffin is to look at the team that he put out at millwall

A dozen games out of the prem

He's a twat

And he will always be a twat

Ah yes Spackman. He was one of these up and comings who I quite fancied as manager at one time so must have been this time.

Went to the Exec Club Q&A with Rioch not long after he signed up though and he left the room buzzing with excitment with his plans. He delivered by the bucketload

I went out in Manc one day at Xmas with a Rovers supporting mate. We were flying under Coyle. He said - You fuckin hated Megson but he left you with a good team, he’s just a shit manager. This prick gives confidence but nowt else - let’s see where you are in 2 years with his own signings.

I’ll never admit to his face he was right - but he was

Up there with Hancock

Not even close

Spackman might even have been allardyce time, can't remember

I'd have sacked allardyce after NYD at walsall

You know how red nose had his mark robin's moment, I remember a sky home game v Sunderland

Sure we won by an own goal...it was getting very iffy in the seats that night, too...by then I'd bought in and accepted staying up on goal difference would be a result

Eagles had a blinder despite missing a pen

Perhaps as well he missed

We might have been playing Sunday league

I was in that shitty club next to the ground with quite a few Wanderers, that was the general feeling - lose today, he goes.

Felt similar at Brum when we’d lost 6 on the spin. Broke it with a draw against WBA. I know we won in the last minute, was this the game Diouf was immense or a different one?

Same game I think

I put diouf that day up with okocha at spurs and jussi at hull

3 absolute world class displays

There may have been more, but they are beyond dispute

Not many of us at Brum - or Spurs from Memory

Edited by Biggish Dave

Spurs was never well attended think we took top & bottom maybe twice

Looking at the comments I think the club and the fans have all got the management choices wrong.

we didnt want megson and he turned out one of the best appointment

We didnt have many arguments with Hill, coyle and Lennon and they all got us relegated.

So it really doesnt matter who we get, its all about “right place, right time”
