Is Cheggers brown bread?

Naked Jungle, Cheggers donning the classic sandals and cock look.

Yes he’s brown bread, was in the pantomime at Reebok year or 2 before he died.

Clough all day long if we could afford him. If we're brassic (as I expect) we could do worse than give Lee the gig, it appears he knows how to organise a team and plays football rather than hoof ball at least.

You’d have thought he’d bite our hand off for a chance to manage a team like Bolton. Chalk and cheese compared to Burton, despite the league position.

Of course he would. No from me

I’d like to think there are better managers out there who would take the job (and who we could afford). But do we wear rose* tinted glasses? We’re about to become a league 2 team, after all.

I’ll say no when I know what the options are 🙂

* I’m concerned that rose might be too close to red for BB.

Surely leading a club our size from the ashes must hold prestige. I’ll be honest I’m not mithered if the next chap is a name or not. He has to be the right one this time though.

Clough moaned like a bitch when we played them at home because he couldn’t play against our  youth team .  suited to burton fucked up last time he was given a chance at another club

Can an admin change the title of this thread to "Keith Hill - potted" when it happens so I don't need to keep clicking into it to see if he's been potted yet.

It's the source of constant disappointment this thread.

Good shout, yes ahead of Nolan all day long.  But this "up and coming manager" thing is no guarantee.  18 months ago everyone wanted Nathan Jones, now he's back at Luton with his tail between his legs.  Paul Hurst proved himself at Grimsby (promoted to the EFL) and Shrewsbury and looked like a good appointment by Ipswich.  Well out of his depth, now at Scunthorpe.  Its just impossible to tell, that's where the owners have to decide who they are comfortable working with (and who they can afford that is available and willing).

Ricketts is a great shout, Nolan is a gamble we can't afford, Clough is a no go IMO, what we need next is a management team with knowledge of non league, and lower league talent, this is the pond in which we are fishing, and developing a team over a number of years, we are a long way off being a force, and I see Ricketts, given time, getting us a team that will be a force.

I think he will get better offers from the Championship, sad to say. Ainsworth likewise. I would like Nolan but he must be on good money at West Ham.

I liked Ricketts' team when they played us and I think it's possible he could go on to prove himself a good manager. I don't understand the logic that Nolan is a gamble we can't afford but Ricketts isn't, though.

I am happy to continue to back him into the new season on the basis of all the crap he's had to deal with.

hes proven himself at lower levels also.

reading here it seems like support is ebbing away though.

Because Nolan has had 2 jobs (Orient and Notts County), and arguably left both clubs in worse positions than he found them.  Ricketts has had 2 jobs (Wrexham and Shrews) and has improved both clubs positions (and a decent cup run or 2).  And listening to him talk gives confidence that he knows what he's doing, calm and assured.

Bit harsh on Nolan that. Missed out narrowly on promotion with county, had a rocky start to the next season and he was gone.

Orient had some weird owners iirc.

That said, Ricketts does seem to be ticking the boxes.

I don't want us to appoint Nolan, although I think you're being unfair on his managerial record. The point is that if Nolan would be a gamble then surely so would Ricketts. I was impressed by his demeanour and how his team operated when they played us, and like you I suspect he has something about him, but he's barely two years into his managerial career.

(And if I were to be as harsh in my argument as you are with Nolan, I might point out that Shrewsbury Town are currently one place lower than they were when he took over 🙂)
