Awhile back I was in the 'give him the start of next season' camp, largely because of his experience at the level.

With his contract up though it looks like the sensible call to have a new face for what will be largely a new team.

On a personal level I liked him and wasn't bothered by the odd remark. There's room in this world for eccentrics, but if they win football matches it can help the bizarre comments sail by.

Hill is a Bolton Red ffs. A prime reasoning for our financial struggles.

Agreed with the appointment at the time but it absolutely hasn’t worked out.

FV haven’t really put a foot wrong so far for me. Partially agreed with the appointment at the time. Certainly agree with letting them go.

286 days in charge during the biggest shit storm this club has ever faced don’t think FV can hold their heads up and say they’ve been fare and reasonable

Unless the new Gartside can stop the rot FV could be next

They could have had all the money in the world, but couldn't give any to the manager. Limited squad, wages and no transfer fees. So that's largely irrelevant.

On that basis, it was a bit of a free hit for Hill, and he was backed by his bosses. No moans, or hint of dissatisfaction (certainly publicly).

Yet Hill managed to alienate large swathes of support with his rantings and associated bollocks. Then there were the performances. Good to see some attacking intent after PP, but that's about it.

Absolutely nothing to do with Sharon et al- he knew the score when he came in, but didn't do well enough.

In short, there is only one person Hill can blame, and that's himself.

I was quite happy when we appointed him but Accrington was the first nail and then him ranting at imaginary criticism when he was getting a free ride, was the end for me.

Bob on.

Them’s the two things that I’ll remember about him.

I agree with this. On a personal level, I feel more for Flicker, I know him, and he was so proud to get this gig, he so much wanted to pull the club together from grass roots upwards.

But objectively I understand the decision, we are moving in a different direction, especially with the appointment of Tobias Phoenix. I don’t think the philosophies matched and somebody had to go.

Onwards and upwards.

The only 2 games I will look back on from this season are Wycombe away and Coventry City at home ,  we played kids on both occasions and Keith Hill was involved in neither - that sums up his time in charge for me . He was clueless - end of.

Yep, those two games were magical.

I have never enjoyed a game that we have lost until Wycombe. Came away so proud of those guys.

Alexander against Coventry...hero.

We’ll always remember that game but that lad was fantastic.

I really want him to be our goalie for years to come.

Think the top of the Hill for me was probably that stoppage time winner v MK after missing the penalty. Joyous, and really did think we were going to stay up.

3 wins on the bounce heading into Accrington. And that was that.

All downhill from there. We were 12 points from safety with 3 games in hand after that.

We have since won 2 games out of 20 and stand 21 points from safety.

He’s also rumoured to have alienated players/upset the hierarchy.

Yes we’ve not had a pre-season and the squad has been mashed together, but as previously stated, this was a free shot and he fucked it up.

Its the correct decision for me.

The postponed game at Lincoln was in the middle of all that too, perhaps we'd have got something there who knows, but I definitely remember going into Accrington with a sense of probably overconfidence.

I don't know what happened in the week leading up to it, and on that pitch but to go from good form and wins to 7-1, wow.

Everything else after that was just good piss ups.

I was the same football was great at first seemed the right man for the job then the Accrington game I started loosing faith in him . the rant at Rochdale , chickson  being let go . No tactics couldn’t get the team to defend  It quickly went down the pan

His daft fake Manc accent only made the bollocks he was spouting sound worse.

He can go back to his allotment and sprinkle his bullshit on his onions now.

And concocting fan criticism of himself that didn't really exist to deflect from his own incompetence was ffn poor, and a kick in the balls for all the fans, especially the droves who went all pver the country to really get behind the team, despite knowing it was probably a lost cause.

On the pitch, I couldn't see what he was trying to do - it certainly wasn't strengthening the defence !! - or any sign of us improving - if anything we were going backwards - but at a push, I could have accepted what a difficult job it was & given him more time.

but....with the bullshit he came out with & his whole "know it all" attitude, I don't think i've disliked a manager more . Bye bye

Accy Away, the Bridcutt CB experiment, poor man management, erratic team selection, bizarre interviews, ranting at the league's most patient and tolerant fans etc etc

Can't believe they're not keeping him.

Right decision to let Hill go, I actually thought he was an ideal appointment at the time, but he's been a massive disappointment, crap tactics, shit defence, dodgy substitutions, players playing out of position, the list is endless.

Great summing up of how I feel, I wasn't sure how to put it, but that's exactly it word for word.

But they are allowed to change their mind.  I've met people at work and thought they were the dogs bollocks after a couple of weeks; 6 months later the cracks have appeared, the truth comes out.  And its not even that he might be considered a crap manager by Sharon, the CEO etc, it could just be that they don't have a great working relationship.  They are 100% entitled not to give a new contract, they have been able to take stock over the last year and find someone they really want, that is now available/attainable.
