How come there isn't a thread for this ?

Is it because they've revealed their true colours, excuse the deliberate pun.

Folk were warned re their true intentions, but as always called racist by the naive.

It would be yes. If that was true. Not even sure who you mean by they? I doubt that whoever wants to change the lyrics even has the power to do so.

Just another cock & bull story. I'm sure your Twitter feed will prove me wrong though 😉

Where in that article does it say they're changing the lyrics to Jerusalem? "a new arrangement" means they're changing the way the orchestra plays it - as they have done many times before. They're not changing or omitting any lyrics.

Jesus mate - you're obsessive. It's like one big competition for ya, impossible to discuss anything. I don't tend to dive into colonialism with 6 and 7 year olds... got enough on our hands with learning to read & write 😆

You said they were changing the lyrics to Jerusalem. I said who you meant by they and that it sounded like a cock and bull story. I've seen Bozzas interview today aye. But what has that headline got to do with the song Jerusalem? Think you've got yourself in a pickle.

Good point from the fella about Rule Britannia.. as I said, I can see both sides to it.

In Amazon's uk charts, Land of Hope and Glory is currently No1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 17. God knows how they compile them charts

Changing the arrangement to Jerusalem my apologies there, but how do they change that and why change it ?

Different arrangements and artists. They all have the same lyrics....

Why do DJ's release multiple re-mixes of the same song? I get the impression you're not really into orchestras or musical theory.

Apparently to remember the contributions of the commonwealth nations and the windrush generation. It was originally a William Blake poem about a vision for a better Britain. Seems like a nicely thought out dedication.

Course mate 😂 if you say so. Twice a day like clockwork.

Personally I couldn't give a shite. I can see both sides of the argument. If singing Rule Britannia is important to your cultural heritage & you like it then carry on - nobody is stopping you. If people of colour in the orchestra at Proms felt uncomfortable playing it then so be it. There's always Jerusalem , cracking tune.

If they won't play it, then sack them. Its their job.

Fwiw, I doubt a single player will feel that way.

Its one of the most multicultural/multinational events about. Loads of flags from all over the world and they get waved like buggery during these tunes. No one moaning or whipping themselves in the audience.

Lord Hall just this minute conformed that such a discussion has taken place, but thankfully, they've seen sense.

That's fair enough, a very good dedication indeed 👏 👍

I'll be honest - Rule Britannia always makes me cringe a bit on that line. And it's a shit tune anyway.

Jerusalem on the other hand is immense!

Bollocks, they're both great.

Chuck in land of (dope and heroin) too.

I hope there was outrage every time each new arrangement was launched.

Sing what you want. But don’t do it like this prick. And learn the fucking words, Nigel you dick.

What was wrong with the lyrics they sang on that clip?

Not according to the lyrics I looked at. It was just the chorus repeated.

As for the verses, kinell, doubt there are many people alive who know them.

Your lyrics are also incorrect then.

Hopefully one of the board uber patriots will be along soon to give us a correct rendition.

I'm not sure anybody does give a shit, that's the point.

I think he's got it wrong as well, by the way
