There was also a bit of footage apparently later on which shows the police going back with shields etc.

A tactical/safety retreat, but it does appear further action was taken.

Seems like the initial softly softly approach will have to be canned now, as there is no respect whatsoever. Go in heavy handed straight away.

Seems a bit random now. It happened today in the Brighton game but I’m sure it didn’t happen a couple of games ago?

Correct. We don't need force feeding it. This will be counter productive in the long run. It will create resentment and a backlash and probably result in increased recruitment for genuine far right groups (i.e not your everyday football lad; old soldier or war hero).
