My daughter's playing u12 now. First season where they play for points and league placings. First game was on Sunday against a team called Mill Hill from Blackburn way.

Jeez. Talk about a different vibe. Their girls threatening to kill our girls, their parents shouting over to see if anyone fancies a fight. Absolutely bonkers!

Could hear one of their parents telling their girls to punch one of ours when the refs not looking - Abusing a 15 year old referee. It was proper toxic. My daughters team were a better set of players, but they were clearly intimidated and ended up drawing 2-2. Really soured things for me. 1 week after starting high school and they're getting that on a Sunday morning when they're supposed to having fun with their mates. 😞

You’ll get used to it… personally I hate it, when Megs played I saw parents scrapping with coaches, linesmen abusing referees, grown adults stretching parent barriers… I love the coaching aspect, hate the managing.

How did she get on at Salford Schools? That’s slightly better, but only just-

Hang on- you once there’ threw your father in laws gloves at Lino 😂😂😂😂

How many grassroots coaches are on here? Apart from goalkeeping, development, and soccer school, I also do fundraising- anyone have any suggestions or would like any? I’m trying to start a private lottery, bit like Lifeline on a smaller scale, but could make life a little more sustainable for some clubs

Worth getting in touch with Lifeline as they do deals with grassroots clubs and means you don’t have to piss about with any admin

Bit of an eye opener. Had 13 confirmed for the game. Hull away in East Riding. so 200+ mile round trip. 4 didn't turn up!! So had to play one of the better Northern teams with a bare 9.

1-1 at half time and 2-1 down with about 15 to play, then it went to pot and after the 3rd went in, a lot of them lost their heads. Lost 6-1 in the end!

Different levels though. After 30 seconds or she went to close down the left back in the channel and the centre back caught a glimpse, stepped across and BANG! shoulder to the head. Welcome to district footy 😄

She was a credit though mate. Was asked to basically just charge around for 70 mins and stop them playing out from the back and she really did. Paul was really happy with her. She was absolutely f**ked by full-time. She'd played in the morning too at wing back for her grass roots team, which probably wasn't a great idea...

They've a lot of work to do, but with a few new additions in the next couple of weeks, they'll be ready for the next one. Liverpool away

We've got Blackpool on a Saturday (BWFC are away) and Wolverhampton on a Sunday, other than that they're all relatively close and played on a Friday, which is handy!

Enjoyed it, dunno if they were short on keepers, but it’s a positive- he’s been chatting with Ronaldinho’s lad whose work U21s

Our Billy had the same problem at Salford with castore. With the amount of top tier clubs they fucked up it was hardly surprising they failed with the kids of a league 2 club!

Anyway Walsall away on Sunday followed by Liverpool away on Tuesday 🤦🏻

Arrived yesterday- wrong size and some of them had Club Brugge badges!

Walt until you’ve got schoolboys next year and you have to factor in Saturday games

Coming back to this. I help coach my sons u9s but he's been sidelined quite a bit lately. I can handle him not being first pick but the manager's son plays every minute of every game, takes all free kicks, corners etc

My lad has been offered a trial at the club that his older sister is captain of. How would you approach the manager of the u9 team to tell them he's leaving?

Man to man. Be honest pal.

I've just had an honest convo with my lads coach (under 14s)

I probably overstepped it contacting him on a Sunday night but it'd have ruined my week if I hadn't.

My lads captain, nicest lad you'll ever meet and tries his best every week no matter what.

This though leads to him being the fall guy. Played out of position today because he's good enough to cover but then isolated out of the game then moved in 2nd half to cover another position.

His confidence shot to pieces because he's a striker but gets dragged here there and everywhere because he never moans and plays well where he's put.

Last season he stayed upfront and was top GS for the whole league.

Whole thing pisses me off as he's not got long left at junior footy.

U9s should be equal time- end of story. have a word with him after training, let everyone else go and explain he has an opportunity with another team. in theory he has to release him on the new FA website, you'll both have a unique FAN which you'll need to sign for a new team. he might kick up a fuss- especially if youre helping, but just be honest and respectful.

i've had players leave for different reasons- nothing worse than a dad who thinks their kid is the next Clayton Donaldson, and he just arrogantly walks away... i know that isnt the case here

too many grassroots coaches have an emphasis on winning- playing how we were taught, but its completely different now; i dont care if Jonny has a hat trick and on fire, he might be shit next week, and Jimmy is still learning. i hate losing, but development is the priority

dont tell them

just leave

then totally ghost them

when your paths cross again on the sideline, pretend you've never met them before
