Just what I thought when I saw your “banning guns will do nothing “ post

Nope

All they have in response to the issue are thoughts and prayers

Leave them to it

Unfortunately not. The powers that be seem to not want it.

Why anyone thinks anybody needs an assault rifle is somewhat puzzling.

Even if it takes 30 years for circulation of guns to diminish surely its worth a shot right?

Its bit like saying whats the point in making changes to save the planet when its already fucked anyway.

Of course it is……but they don’t want it to happen. It’s blatantly obvious. Every time there’s a mass shooting over there we, and probably most other countries say they need to ban guns. In America gun sales usually increase! They’re a lost cause.

People want it to happen, its the politicians that don't want it to happen, don't want their money from the NRA to stop.

Things change, things have always changed. I’d say the anti-gun movement is the strongest it has been in a long time. It’s some fight to change the legislation but there’s a chance it could happen over time. At least that’s what the polls say, certainly no reason for those that want change to give up.

How many people were used in those polls?

No idea. How many people?

This article sums it all up pretty well. Polls show a solid majority of Americans want gun control - Vox

Clearly a complex issue (like you say) and the majority are still in favour of private ownership. However around 80 - 90 % want to see much stronger legislation. So clearly there scope for change and people want that. Plenty reasons for folk over there to keep fighting for change.

There was once a time when the majority of people didn't want equal rights for black people, or for gay people to be allowed to get married. No reason the anti-gun movement can't change things for the better long term.

Same, no idea. The reason I ask is many polls are done using a few thousand people. In reality Americans are purchasing circa 1.5 million guns a month legally (god knows how many illegally).

You’d think that those in power now would have the best chance of bringing in stricter laws, however that’s not happened (more down to how American politics work I think). If these lot can’t do it then what hope is there? They’re a lost cause.

Beautiful! 😁

Another mass shooting in Texas. 8 dead, victims as young as 5. What a country.

It’s time to give shop staff who work in malls their own guns.

problem solved

To be fair - trying to bring someone's personal shit/mental health into a political discussion is pretty low.
