Just now, Lt. Aldo Raine said:

One of the few Jewish MPs has received death threats from a group calling themselves Muslims against Crusades and recently had his constituency office burned down

Sadly, he now intends to stand down at the next general election

That is sad. I hope he changes his mind and those responsible are caught.

James Cleverly, the home secretary, said the rise in anti-Jewish hatred and abuse was “utterly deplorable”, and Yvette Cooper, his Labour counterpart, said it was a “stain on our society”.

This is just one report. There are many others.

Not just them though

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/12/21/seen-as-less-human-why-has-islamophobia-surged-amid-israels-gaza-war

Hate crimes against Muslims and those perceived to be Muslim in the United Kingdom are up by 140 percent compared with this time last year, according to British police.

The United Kingdom anti-Islamophobia organisation Tell MAMA has received a sevenfold increase in reports of Islamophobia since October 7

I'm informed tragic is an inappropriate word for this kind of thing

Aye, I did it on purpose as I'm curious if the sympathy stretches that far

It really is bizarre that the subject of Jewish fears or discrimination can't be discussed in its own right without people trying to shoehorn the mistreatment of others into that discussion

Highlighting antisemitism isn't denying the struggles of other people

Criticising the IDF isn't "antisemitism", just as condemning Hamas isn't "Islamophobia". You don't have to pick a side.

No, it shouldn't

But this is war

And @Boby Brno has made it clear he supports Israel and wants them to win so it's clear where his sympathy and contempt lies

So I feel it's important as an impartial observer to point out it works both ways

Not that I'm expecting to change his mind

But I'm not Jewish or Muslim so when I see a point being made about anti semitism being in the rise I don't see an issue in pointing out islamophobia is on the rise

But as stated before, it's not simply about violence

I get that, but i think its clear that far from suppressing stuff, the msm is quick to report perceived aniti semitic stuff

Both the arson and the alleged poor treatment of the kid in hospital were big news and presented as anti semitic

Raab, braverman, jenrick, schapps, freer all in govt til recently suggests more than a fair share of jewish people with significant influence

The investigation into the hospital incident is supposedly still ongoing

I'm not sure what you're point is with your final paragraph

Thats fair enough then, only i cant find mention of it anywhere

Compare that with the initial reporting

Ferrari and riley amongst others wanted blood

Second point, listen to alan duncans comments on the subject when he speaks of undue jewish influence on govt policy

It can & you’re spot on, it isn’t denying the struggles of others.

But this is a hugely complex historical conflict with Jews & Muslims being discriminated against on both sides. It’s hard to treat things in isolation. Definitions of antisemitism range from any criticism of Israel, to blatant discrimination & hatred directed at Jewish. For example, you’ve got people accusing anyone who sings from the river to the sea as being antisemitic or claiming a Pro Palestine demo is a ‘hate march’. Which are both naive assumptions. Then you’ve got the genuine cases of Hamas sympathisers, or people calling for death to Jews.

It’s important to get the label right & look at the whole picture. It’s a war after all.

If you think the UK broadly supports Israel because of an undue Jewish influence in the Tory party, that's a shame

Hopefully @London Wanderer can put you right because I'm off to bed
