Meanwhile in Israel

Is it kicking off big time or is this just everyday stuff they deal with or a bit of both?

On the 8th May 2021 a number of people gathered outside Bolton Wanderers' stadium. Despite their jubilant behaviour, there was no evidence they were celebrating the team's promotion earlier in the day.

😂😂 I can see the term gullible popping up over the next few days.

Just been down to piccadilly circus, big Palestinian flag waving from the top of it.

Took you all afternoon to come up with that one 😂👏

Groups including Stop the War and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign gathered at the embassy in Kensington, waving placards calling for Israel to “end the occupation”.

Fireworks were let off, flares were lit and chants of “Israel is a terrorist state”, “Free Palestine” and “Allahu akbar” rang out.

Some naive (one sided) actions in there and not the best time for all this. But can you please point to where the organisers are celebrating Israeli deaths? Because the media haven’t reported it as a celebration and the organisers certainly didn’t organise it to celebrate. Are they all as gullible as me? 😄

Whenever there is a flare up you see the demos from each side. Palestinians have legitimate cause to want their land back, so it’s understandable that they protest when the troubles are headline news.

You'd hope not. You;d hope it's just Israeli soldiers trying to ramp up the rhetoric.

If it's true, then we're truly into a new level of barbarism

God, I hope so

Hamas warned citizens of Ashkelon to leave, and have now launched another barage of rockets.

Meanwhile in kfar Aza, at least 100 dead after being murdered in their homes/accommodation. Including foreign workers.

This is indeed a proper war, and Israel isn't going to hold back. Pictures showing rockets firing from Gaza, will just allow quicker targeting of air strikes.

Not been this bad in a long time. Hard to see a way out.

Folk reporting the incidents described some of the crimes as being unspeakable. May well be true.

I hope so too, I know there's a lot of misinformation going around too. ISIS levels of horror that.

WARNING - THIS POST CONTAINS ACTUAL FACTS.

All Israel has wanted is to exist as a Jewish state and to live in peace.  Let's look at the FACTS and not the emotional hype...You be the judge on reason vs. irrationality.

Israel has always recognized the right of Palestinians to have their own state and to live in peace. The problem, however, is that most Palestinians and many other Muslims and Arabs, do not recognize the right of the Jewish state of Israel to even exist.

The notion that “if only Israel would allow Palestine to have a state of their own, there would be peace.”
Is a complete falsehood.
It’s a lie. In fact, the Palestinians have been offered their own state 5 TIMES.

Let’s review:
1914, following WWI, the break up of the Ottomon empire, Britain took control of most of the Middle East. In 1936, the Arabs rebelled against both the British and the Jewish. British formed a task force to study the conflict  – Peel Commission – and concluded that there were 2 peoples wanted to govern the same land.

Their solution was to create 2 independent states – for the Jews and the Arabs. A TWO STATE SOLUTION.

The split they proposed was predominately in favor of the Arabs – offering them 80% of the territory. The Jews were offered only a tiny section (that was primarily Tel Aviv to Jerusalem).

The Jews accepted the offer from the Brits!
REJECTION 1: But Arabs rejected the offer and resumed their rebellion. They wanted all or nothing.  Nothing to the Jews.
In 1947, Brits asked the UN to resolve the conflict. In November 1947, the UN voted to form 2 states. Once again, Israel accepted –

REJECTION 2:  and the response from the Arabs was to launch an all out war

When British rule ended on May 15, 1948, the armies of all the neighboring Arab states – Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt – attacked the one-day old state of Israel in order to destroy it.

BUT – SURPRISE! - TINY ISRAEL WON THE WAR against 5 countries and Palestinians!

Most of the land set aside by the UN for the Arab state – the West Bank & East Jerusalem – became occupied not by Israel but by Jordan.

20 years later – in 1967 – once again the Arabs – led by Egypt, Syria and Jordan –  sought to eliminate the Jewish state.

In 1967, the dictator of Egypt, Gamal Abdel Nasser, announced his plan, in his words, “to destroy Israel.” Known as the "6 Day War" he placed Egyptian troops on Israel’s border, and armies of surrounding Arab countries were also mobilized to attack. However, Israel preemptively attacked Egypt and Syria.

Israel did not attack Jordan, and begged Jordan’s king not to join the war. But he did.

And only because of that did Israel take control of Jordanian land, specifically the “West Bank” of the Jordan River.

Once again, ISRAEL PREVAILED against multiple countries!  As a result of this war, Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza fell under Israel rule.

The Israeli government was split as to what to do with the new territory. ½ of them wanted to return the West Bank to Jordan and Gaza to Egypt – to forge a peace treaty. The other ½ wanted to give it to the region’s Arabs – who had begun to refer to themselves as “Palestinians”

A few months later – the Arab League met and issued the famous “3 No’s”…

NO PEACE WITH ISRAEL;
NO RECOGNITION OF ISRAEL;
NO NEGOTIATIONS WITH ISRAEL.
REJECTION 3: There will be no 2 state solution!

In 1978,  Israel gave the entire Sinai Peninsula -- an area of land bigger than Israel itself, and with oil -- back to Egypt - because Egypt, under new leadership, signed a peace agreement with Israel.

So, Israel gave land for the promise of peace with Egypt, and it has always been willing to do the same thing with the Palestinians. All the Palestinians have ever had to do is recognize Israel as a Jewish state and promise to live in peace with it.

In 2000, Israeli PM Ehud Barak met with PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat to broker a deal. Israel offered them the ability to form a Palestinian state; all of Gaza and 94% of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as its capital.

REJECTION 4: Arafat said NO. (In the words of Pres Bill Clinton – Arafat was here for 11 days – and said no to everything!)

Following these negotiations, Palestine sent large numbers of suicide bombers into public areas of Israel and killed over 1,000 Jews – maiming thousands more.

In 2005 – Israel unilaterally left Gaza. But instead of developing the territory – the Palestinians ended up turning the territory in to a TERRORIST BASE. Where they have continued to fire thousands of rockets into Israel.

In 2008, Israel tried again. PM Ehud Olmert offered everything PM Barak offered – but added even more land.

REJECTION 5: Palestine’s president Mahmoud Abbas – says NO to everything.

To this day, Palestinian radio, television, and school curricula remain filled with glorification of terrorists, demonization of Jews, and the daily repeated message that Israel should cease to exist.

In a nutshell- it’s not hard to explain the Middle-East dispute. One side wants the other dead.

The motto of Hamas, the Palestinian rulers of Gaza, is: “We love death as much as the Jews love life.”

There are 22 Arab states in the world -- stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean. There is one “Jewish State” in the world. And it is about the size of New Jersey. In fact, tiny El Salvador is larger than Israel.

Please remember this: There has never been a state in the geographic area known as Palestine that was not Jewish. Israel is the third Jewish state to exist in that area. There was never an Arab state, never a Palestinian state, never a Muslim or any other state.

That’s the issue: why can’t the one Jewish state the size of El Salvador be allowed to exist?

That is the Middle-East problem.”

That’s a good synopsis as I see it as well. As I said the other day, look at the geography. A state surrounded by nations who don’t want them there. A state in a war with terrorists who want to destroy their whole race and nation. How anyone can judge the Israelis without understanding the fundamental fear they have of extinction is beyond me.
There is a precedent if anyone thinks I’m exaggerating.

Just seen the BBC report from Israel. Jeremy Bowen said he was shown the body of a woman who had been beheaded. It was covered in a cloth. He said he didn’t remove the cloth, understandable but as a journalist, it would have given credence to the claims.
