Meanwhile in Israel

Is it kicking off big time or is this just everyday stuff they deal with or a bit of both?

Surprisingly when people look into this there are plenty of factors. Someone mentioned Spurs above, given they play at Villa every year and Villa have a Jewish supporters group it is clearly more than the area being ‘no go’ for Jews.

Except Villa don't seem to have a Jewish supporters group. Andrew Fox (who isn't even Jewish) declared himself "honorary president" in a Sky News interview, but there is no other record of it existing.

Add all that to the Villa lot and TRs gang.

I can see why they've pulled it be fair.

Do you reckon Tommys gang would have been attending if there hadn’t been this announcement?

That did make me laugh when I heard he'd invented his own club.

He's an outspoken ex military fella who has made it quite clear that Palestine shouldn't be allowed to exist.

He'll not bring any balance to the situation.

I don't know if it does or doesn't exist, but I did think it was strange at the time when this bloke appeared on TV, and was labelled as the "Honorary President of Aston Villa Jewish Supporters"  and wondered straight away if such an organisation really exists (because if there was one for Villa, then you might expect there to be one for most other large clubs, and I'd never heard or seen such a thing)

As you say, Andrew Fox isn't even Jewish, so that would make it even odder for me. Of course, I understand that you wouldn't have to be Jewish to be "Honorary President" of such a thing, but you'd think it would be very, very likely that you were.

I think Andrew Fox is probably just a bit of an attention seeker / trouble causer

Indeed, why do that?

I was taught at school that we don't have a national sport, officially anyway.

Anyway, just another thing for Mr Literal and Mr Pompous to argue over! 😉😁

I've not followed the bickering of between them, so don't know who is saying what........but my understanding is that Cricket is the national sport of England (even though Football is the most widely played)

Thinly veiled, you’ve been pretty much wrong about everything this morning and again made yourself look an even bigger bell than you are. Some achievement

At Victoria...just seeing if you'd leave it.😁

2 questions….

1 . How the fuck is cricket our national sport ?
2. How is a national sport decided ?

I checked @royal white claim and according to Wiki he is right, but no idea why.

Well blow me down. Apparently historically it is. Everyday is a school day, apologies RW, it is apparently our national sport.

I perhaps should have said its our most popular sport.

Anyway, happy to concede despite the awkward use of the asterisk that RW is correct. I should use Google more often 😁

It is, though NIC will tell you different, he’s a bit special like that.

If I was a Tel Aviv fan would I comfortable going to this fixture with my family given the backdrop of the situation?

No I wouldn't. There would be high tensions given the circumstances and without doubt folk out for a Barney with them, especially from the local Islamic community.

And by the sounds of it there'd be plenty of the ultra folk bang at it too.

Seems a bit more than just footy aggro. As we can see in Amsterdam last weekend.

Its complex obviously and I think is been handled pretty badly but we should leave those policing to police. Not sure it was a good idea for the government to wade in on this either.

Good points - & in your other post too.

I've said all along that the threat of antisemitism from certain elements of the Islamic community is of course a factor. There isn't just one reason. But WMP and the group who advised them, made it clear that it was the threat of violence from Maccabi fans that was the biggest threat here.

This video is a good insight into the events in Amsterdam. Maccabi fans were turning up in large numbers in the days leading up to the game. For me it clearly shows politically and racially motivated violence. That's why I really don't think comparing it to football violence is helpful here. It's more than that.

The song about raping girls & drinking blood is fckn grim. But it's the widespread attacks on innocent civilians that is the biggest issue. These ultras are next level, they make the National Front look like angels and what's most concerning is the political power they have in Israel and the impact this is having on Arabs who live there.

My issue is with people jumping to the first conclusion that this was mainly because they wouldn't be welcome in Birmingham. Politicians in Israel and Maccabi fans creating a narrative that they can't be guaranteed safety because they are Jewish. When in fact the main reason is because of their own behaviour.

Agreed although I say one of and not main.

It's just become symptomatic of today's polarised and hysterical world hasn't it.

Who in reality gives a flying fuck?

Flag-shagging Reform and Tommy supporters pretend they do the most. They've took 'virtue signalling' to another level.

No jews no news!

Probably the most one sided report I’ve ever seen! He did get one thing right though, if this was Arsenal v Spurs it  would have had a couple of inches reported on it. Who’d of thunk it hey, someone comparing other footy violence to this 🙄

He's right. Who would have thought it, the most vociferous about virtue signalling, would eventually become the largest virtue signallers of the lot

Also, the word "pretend" is also very relevant, as most of it is just that, pretence.

I give a fuck about these things

But I’m a sad bastard 😁

And you’re right, it’s beyond hysterical. The Israel Palestine debate has gone down that road sadly. Whilst the majority of folk just want both nations to be allowed to exist.

Part of me also craves for us to become an Island where we don’t need be involved in anything abroad. Hidden from the chaos. But it’s a globalised world & unless we become self sufficient, you can’t avoid this shit.

No I meant whether some away fans are allowed at Villa Park or not.

Not world geopolitics :D

It would be quite the turn of events if Tommy and his football lads decide to stand side by side with some of Europe’s most vile racist hooligans. Especially after him saying his BNP days are over 😄 Would definitely go against the message he’s trying to create of a peaceful Unite the Kingdom movement.

I know you meant that 😄

I just pointed out that I was interested in the decision.

Then I went on a daft unnecessary tangent to confuse my point 😁

He's too clever for that. I don't doubt he still has the same beliefs he had when in the BNP, he just knows he needs to keep them under wraps, if he's to keep riding the gravy train he's currently on

I saw an interview with Tommy Robinson today where he looked like Ian Evatt.

Sunbed tan, turkey tan, mounjaro etc.

The only difference is that Tommy Robinson has a large, pulsing vein on the side of his forehead.

I also noticed that Nigel Farage has twice as many lower teeth as a normal human being 😁
