Worst Airport

Now, this isn't my nomination, but Manchester has gone to shite.

Understandable queues, but half the bars are shut, with 40 mins wait for drinks, after queuing 10 for a table. Burger King (two hungry kids) overran with scutters and discarded chips, only coke left. A few high streets shops shut... Beyond security is almost as bad as getting through.

Thinly veiled

Aberdeen Airport is quite good.

Manchester is very hit and miss, hoping the T2 work helps.

Only used Heathrow T3 and it was bobbins.

I don’t mind Manchester tbh but I suppose because I know it quite well, I know the drill so go with the flow.

Smaller airports tend to be easier even if the facilities not quite as good.

The one airport I can’t take to though is Atlanta. It’s massive and a pain in the arse to get about. The trains take you so far but still usually left with a massive hike and a slow immigration area

Has anyone ever got from any Manchester Terminal hub (after security) and then travelled to their gate using the moving pavements? The maintenance is shocking. It’s as if putting a bollard up with “This travelator is not working” counts as being under maintenance.

Is that not same as most roads and motorways in Britain though?

You make a valid point.

Fuck all wrong with Manc airport

Flew out from T2 couple of days ago.  No issues other than San Carlo wasn’t open so I kicked off cos I’m a privileged cunt who couldn’t Insta meself in there

T1 is, and always has been, a bit shit but Christ there’s a lot worse

Chania in Crete. Utterly appalling

Others half's mate is a electrician at airport. Asked him why they are never on, said they only get switched on at peak season?

Utter bollocks though, walking miles in heels when I worked there nearly killed me a few times hobbling back to my car. They where never on.

Sorry MancW, but how can you rate Chania as utterly appalling?

Travellers get a great service when passing through Chania.

Its efficient, rapid and compact. All staff from security to catering are pleasant and helpful and baggage reclaim times are superb.

Every airport in Egypt I’ve ever been

Dirty, chaotic, unpleasant, shitholes.

Coincidentally, I was at Manchester today. Not to travel. A bloke asked a maintenance contractor working on an escalator why they weren’t working and he said because the airport wouldn’t pay.

Heathrow T5 & T2 are much better...

Compact. Queuing outside in the boiling sun for an hour waiting to check in because the terminal is so small

Efficient. Herded like sheep in a pen through security and actually pushed into lines by staff.

Rapid. Flight delayed because so many passengers were still stuck in the terminal

Easy to rate it as appalling unless it’s undergone a massive change recently

Shots fired

#ChaniaGate

When I'm somewhere hot I look out longingly through the terminal windows waiting for departure - wishing I could be outside having one last top up of vitamin D.

And some muppets need shoving into queues.

I think Chania would suit me just fine.

As long as you can buy Coca-Cola and Red Wine once 'Airside' - to make up a plentiful supply of in-flight beverage, I'm a happy camper.

Think I flew from 4 once. It was as I imagine  downtown Kabul to be. The smell to this day remains in my nostrils

Goa is grim, but I've been to some very small, very grim ones in China

I've never been to chania but it can't be as bad as heraklion, even after the upgrade

An absolute shocker

I've never once come out with fewer than half a dozen bites

Yes

Heraklion.

First time in my life I’ve known without any doubt what it feels like to be a soldier escaping a war zone

Fucking hell, that was a hell hole, even worse than Zante and that was crap. All this was 20 odd years ago so I would hope they have improved since.
