Yesterday at 11:241 day Is anybody actually privy to our owners philanthropy away from Bolton Wanderers?

Do you not realise you spend most of your considerable time on here bamboozling everyone (including yourself) with over-complicated financial fantasies?Did you not bother to read my post above where I just demonstrated that I actually didn't do that?I replied to someone who believed that saving BWFC was a more worthy than fighting cancer.Do you believe saving BWFC is a more worthy cause than fighting cancer, because I don't, I believe the vast majority of people wouldn't either.Yes I prefer to spend my time trying to understand the accounts and what they mean for the future of the club, you spend the same time if not more speculating what ifs on the Transfer thread. I don't see much point in reading all the anx and hopes that people post on there as much of our transfer business will derive from the money we have to spend and my interest is working out what that might be.And I do accept and acknowledge the opposite side of the debate when I'm wrong, or misunderstood something - I've often put my hand up when corrected by someone and even thank them for putting me straight.

Yesterday at 13:321 day The club doing 'good' things is nothing new as the charity arm of the club was set up by Eddie in November 2001.Seventeen years before Sharon took over.I've never denied the charity doesn't do good things for some people, I simply said that if Sharon believes she was sent here by God, then there were more deserving causes she could have been sent to instead...On 18/08/2026 at 11:18, Sluffy said:Ok I can sort of accept Sharon believes that she has been sent by God to work a miracle at BWFC (again there are countless other much deserving causes surely than a lower tier English football club)Is that not a true thing to have said?Hat's off to Sharon for attracting £80m worth of investment to a football club to where let's be honest most of it is spent on the football club itself and not as she defines her calling to be...On 18/08/2026 at 11:18, Sluffy said:the idea of wanting to do good and change people's livesI went on to say...On 18/08/2026 at 11:18, Sluffy said:If they all want to throw their money at BWFC then I have no problem with that, keep it coming by all means - but I simply can't understand their motivation to do so - [if the idea is all about wanting to do good and change people's lives, as] there are far more worthy causes than chucking their millions into the financial black hole of a football club, even if it is ours.Is that not true also?At the end of the day it is their money and they do with it what they want, a fraction of it does go to good causes and changing people's lives but I suggest the overwhelmingly vast majority of it doesn't - which to my mind anyway seems to contradict Sharon's stated raison d'etre for being here.I'm sure Sharon is a wonderful and caring person with a good heart and intends the best for the club and the fans but if it is all about wanting to do good and change people's lives then I'm sure there is a better way to achieve that with the £80m she's raised so far than at BWFC.Don't you? I don't even believe I'm being controversial even saying this as it is self evident, isn't it?

But it would be so much more welcoming if you actually dug a little deeper into what I was saying rather than quote yourself. Yes you are correct BWFCITC is a long running charity arm of the club. But it was on its arse and completely dysfunctional before Sharon came.It is now thriving. Look at the key headline figures from their latest impact report.Across the season as a collective, both BWFC and BWitC have generated £4,372,766.24 in social value across four key areas; Physical health £316,745.35, Mental health £3,537,610.97, Community and Social £83,158.13 and Education and Employability £435,251.81 Highlights from the season include: A total of 1,455 free lunches over the summer period to 221 individuals as part of our Bolton Lunches partnership with Urban Outreach.Over 1,000 children engaged in anti-discrimination workshops throughout the year.Feedback from our Premier League Inspires programmes shows a 72.5% improvement in participants’ mental well-being.90% of men we interact with reported their anxiety has decreased through Team Talk95% of Extra Time Hub attendees report an improvement in their social wellbeing I’m sure everyone knows there are more worthy causes to change lives than BWFC - of course there are, but I think it’s disingenuous to belittle Sharon’s social responsibility in taking on her role. Yes, Sharon, Nick, Michael and the Americans are not solely involved with Bolton Wanderers to change lives for the better, as you say they could have gone to a million places to do this. For everything that owning a football club brings either altruistically or for other reason, (lots unknown to us) it is a massive pull for lots of business folk to get involved in football ownershipI don’t think we need anymore debate on the above as I am into waffling stage too! But here’s the thing I hope you are not closing your mind to and your last post suggests you might be more willing to listen. There IS (not more than hospitals) a real positive difference you can make to a community and have a real impact with, if you are the right owners and run the club properly. Sharon “Gets it” and that being the owners of Bolton Wanderers means you have a responsibility and commitment to the town.Something which she takes very seriously and is doing fantastically well with.If we can agree on that, then we can hopefully move on 😊

Yesterday at 15:061 day Actually the main quote about the idea of wanting to do good and change people's lives is what Sharon said, not me.The point I made is that if that if she has been "sent by God" to do, as she has said, then there are infinitely better other ways of doing that other than through football ownership - as I'm surely you would agree? If Sharon/FV and EEP have invested £80m into the club and the club and the charity has raised £4.4m more from the community, then (without looking at the books) she and the club may have helped facilitate the £4.4m funding but NOT contributed to it (the accounts may prove me wrong though).(I suspect a big chunk of the money raised is from government grant funding schemes £3.5m raised in respect of mental health seems a hell of a lot if it is from raising money through charitable events?).Still it is only £4.4m to do "good with" and not £84.4m - if you see what I mean? But £4.4m is a whole lot better than nothing.I've said openly that it is up to whoever is investing their money into the club what they do with it and whatever their reasons maybe.I've also said it is fine by me.All I've basically ever said is if Sharon is here to do God's work by 'doing good and change people's lives', then doing so at a football club (all of which lose millions each and every year), is not the most obvious place to send her too, is it?I've also said, I don't see saying that to have been controversial in the first place?I do appreciate your support for having a voice on here, there's clearly plenty against that though and probably always will be.C'est la vie
Yesterday at 15:071 day Popular Post I'd say the happiness on show at Wembley the other month made every single penny she's put in worthwhile. She's bought joy to thousands of families across a whole town and supporter base. That's worth way more than throwing cash at another generic charity. You cannot undervalue the power of football and affect it has on a whole town and beyond. The good feeling and unity along with family ties and connections just can't be quantified.

You will learn that one day.""I'm beginning to get the feeling that several of you are getting a bit enraptured in a sort of 'cultish' way - Sharon can do no wrong, Sharon is our saviour, sort of way.""I just want to spell out football is not the be all and end all for anyone (at least it shouldn't be) and that there are more important things in life"thanks, we all know that, but this is a forum where we come to talk about one of the most "important" things in our lives that we're all passionate.we don't need to be told on here that the club isn't more important that cancer.Nobody is buying the "I'm just a victim getting undeserved bad press" routine. You started a nonsensical argument comparing private football infrastructure investment to charity work, got called out by half the forum for talking nonsense, gave some rather patronising replies, and now you're claiming to be misunderstood.

18 hours ago18 hr @Sluffyback to "getting it"way I see itwe've all seen there are various ways football clubs get run, some considered, some reckless Sharon got into it because she has a vision that a football club can be ran in a certain way that can bring success and not put the club in the precarious position many find themselves in, like the one when she took overher ambition is to do that here and get us into the PL, so far so good, we've gone from L2 to Championship she needs investors to help her she sells them her vision they get it in that they understand process, they know what is being asked if them, and want to get involved because they believe it can work out well for both them and the cluband if we get to the PL everyone gets an ROI in both finance and a sense of satisfaction and achievement there's certainly nothing cultish about appreciating her efforts and enjoying the rideall seems straightforward to meI'm sure they give to charity toothey certainly help the community with BWFCITC
