  • Leave it to go to variable. Don’t fix. Been discussed in other threads but sadly it’s the tories fault on there so don’t bother 👍🏼

  • So, as prices are set to rise massively on Friday... If you're not on a smart meter, make sure you read your meters tomorrow and send the readings in. Traf's top tip? Add a few units onto th

And 14 rooms. Even more than Jules Darby.

got 25 Spot lights and a fancy light in the Living room

at night i just sit in the dark with the TV on enough light on that  ELE is £25 a month

If you have your big light on for anything other than searching for a item in your living room you are a weirdo. Take the dog for a walk after tea and the amount of serial killers that sit there, blinds/curtains open and big light on astounds me. I have a right good look inside though.

I think I'm a peeping Tom.

Goodness knows how many bulbs we have but 10 of the modern ones are equivalent to 1 old fashioned ones in wattage terms.

Nekid guy on his couch once. Had to go past twice just to make sure 😁

Fitted a new more efficient boiler last year for a couple of grand and have been replacing all of the radiators and it has certainly helped. Been steadily insulating everywhere as our site buyer keeps over-ordering (me). Tried to get one of the Government's green energy grants before Rich Sunak cancelled it, wasted effort.

The answer must me more efficient heating systems and better insulation as fuel prices are only going one way.

We run the central heating in the morning when we get up and then run the log burner in the evening in my main living room where they used to shod horses, that costs about £70 a month and gives us a core of heat, bedrooms are cooler but I don't mind that at bedtime. Don't have kids and the main room is plenty big enough for us to do our own things.

I probably need to stop wearing shorts and T-shirt in winter and flicking the heating on

Smug alert - got a 2yr fix when I changed last April - flukey decision, didn't really think too much about it at the time

Here we go

Ignore him usual shit stirring.

If the Germans and France to an extent were upholding their end and not being so reliant on Russian gas, then the EU could stand up to Putin more readily.

Germany of course are still in the EU.

None of this would be any different had we remained- Putin wants his new pipeline.

Justification of the direction we've been travelling in for a number of years now.

One of the big train companies has now signed up to only buy electricity produced from renewable sources- a positive move that will benefit us all.

I know I sound like a dog with a bone

But Putin's interest in the pipelines is a means to an end for him.

Ukraine is only the beginning. He needs one or 2 Balkan states back with Mother Russia and he's not going to let a bickering Europe get in the way.

There were Crusades to the Baltic region because they were still pagan.

Putin will be overthrown or chockablocked before that happens - oligarchs run the gaff and he's just a figurehead.

I think you have a point.

Putin is looking after his own skin, but so will the other oligarchs.

They have a comparatively small economy, not all that special in certain aspects militarily, and much of the dosh in the pockets of a few.

He is a cunt though.

let's see how long that lasts, when their fares start going through the roof

Does this still apply if the company you're with went bust? Just sit back and wait.

Not true.

Renewable energy is getting cheaper all the time, as fossil fuel stuff is going the other way.

Much of the cost is the capital required to create the renewable network, once done, the 'fuel' is free.

I only buy green electricity, and it is far cheaper than British gas were charging and cheaper than anyone else at the time.

No doubt a massive customer like a train company will be getting a much bigger discount too.

You go to whoever, on their variable deal I think.

Though, they might try to deal match I suppose.

I was moved to British Gas as mine went bust, DD gone from £105 to £195 a month. Great.

Just pay quarterly you scrubber.

Refuse a smart meter. Inflate your readings and that's that. Pay up front.

Still worth checking to see if anyone else is cheaper, even on standard tariff.
