My 2 year fixed tariff ends in April so I thought I’d do a price comparison. 

Currently pay £220 a month and built up credit. Cheapest now is £560 !!!!!! That’s nearly £7k a year !!!!!! Fucking hell !

Fully insulated house, double glazing, all light bulbs are energy saving, smart radiator thermostats, modern boiler set to 22 degrees etc. Wife works from home but heating off and a fancy super efficient inverter heats the only room she’s in.

This is on top of the NI increases, council tax hikes etc. which are coming. Jesus. 

Has anyone else done one recently ?? I hope I’ve done something wrong otherwise that’s no fancy holiday for us this year and we’ll be some of the lucky ones. Some people are going to be fucked.

This countries going to have some serious trouble ahead and how will some cope ??

Is it true that 25% of the energy prices is “green tax” ??

Is it the Russians behind this ??

And this isn’t just a Tory thing - it wouldn’t be much different with any of them in charge.

It never comes down as quickly as it went up, but it will do once the cheaper oil.is processed.

No doubt some forecourts have profiteered though as I'm sure some of them were wanging prices up quicker than they were having deliveries.

Do they do a single person discount like they do with council tax? 🙄

The issue is the Fuel duty is currently levied at a flat rate of 57.95p per litre for both petrol and diesel, the Government get that whatever happens

Asda & Morrisons ran out of diesel around here presuming they was the cheapest

At work we get 56p per mile with a cap of 3,500 miles (per year) then it drops to 20p per mile. It's bullshit. Dreading going back to work soon. Gonna have get a pushbike and go back to old school district nursing.

Government is going to have to raise the mileage rate before taxation. Companies are getting a very good deal off car owners at the moment.

Are you not entitled to claim owt back from HMRC too? I think the going rate is 0.45 for the first 10,000 miles and then 0.25 after that

How ‘fixed’ is fixed? I’m on ‘Fix Total Service’ with EDF until the end of September 2024 but I’m sure that I’m not that lucky and there must be a catch somewhere?!

The cap is the top rate per unit they can charge.

Shouldn't affect fixed rates- when we take a fixed on, usually we pay a bit more initially and that's the gamble.

Can't then wang the cost up later.

Racketeering twat here is charging £2.01 a litre for diesel. Fucking  go to nearest Tesco and it will be £28 cheaper to fill your tank. On reflection, that Bertolt Brecht knew some shit.........

I was on a fixed until the company went bang and my monthly premium went up 40%. Come April it goes up another 53% and likely another 30-40% come October.

So, that is £100 a month for gas/elec to probably about £290.

 

Meanwhile, wood from Eunice blown trees is free.

And all the toppled ones prior.
