My 2 year fixed tariff ends in April so I thought I’d do a price comparison. 

Currently pay £220 a month and built up credit. Cheapest now is £560 !!!!!! That’s nearly £7k a year !!!!!! Fucking hell !

Fully insulated house, double glazing, all light bulbs are energy saving, smart radiator thermostats, modern boiler set to 22 degrees etc. Wife works from home but heating off and a fancy super efficient inverter heats the only room she’s in.

This is on top of the NI increases, council tax hikes etc. which are coming. Jesus. 

Has anyone else done one recently ?? I hope I’ve done something wrong otherwise that’s no fancy holiday for us this year and we’ll be some of the lucky ones. Some people are going to be fucked.

This countries going to have some serious trouble ahead and how will some cope ??

Is it true that 25% of the energy prices is “green tax” ??

Is it the Russians behind this ??

And this isn’t just a Tory thing - it wouldn’t be much different with any of them in charge.

I’ve been shifted onto EDF when my provider went pop. Over the last 12 months my DD has gone from £90/month to yesterdays hike to £177/month. Fucking hell!

Were you with Green Energy? Similarly we were paying £55/month with them (no wonder they went bust!) and shoved over to EDF at £117/month. I’m taking that as a win now, particularly being fixed for so long, as we always seemed to be hit with an extra payment come billing time because we were seemingly underpaying per month and they never adjusted the payments so hopefully that will be a thing of the past now 🤞 

I'm with Shell Energy, and they've just sent me an email saying they're reducing my bill by £20 per month (as I'm a few hundred in credit)....the thing is, I'm on a fixed deal until this August, and then when I drop off that, my monthly bill looks like it will almost double. So I'll get to pay slightly less for the next 4-5 months, and then it'll double up 😵

You won't be able to afford to keep your groundskeeper neither. £10 per gallon fuel on its way for the rolls.

Tell them not to reduce it. Build up your credit and the increase will be partially mitigated.

I've just looked on line, and they've automatically done it. I can adjust the slider and push it back up, but I can only push it up £3 as a maximum, but I can reduce it by a further £25 if I want to.

I'm not overly bothered how much it is to be honest, so I'll just leave it as it is

No, I’m not Greek. I am partial to a souvlaki though.

The fruit trees down there are actually a bit of a pain because they block the view of the boating lake. Getting rid would do me a favour.

My groundskeeper works pro-bono, so no concerns over his pay. He uses the role to get experience as part of his horticultural course at the university of life.

As for the diesel, thankfully my chauffeur drives a Tesla. Before you ask, pro-bono as he’s using it as experience whilst studying The Knowledge.

I'm with Eon, bumped over to Eon Next where it says I'm £325 in credit. My best tariff off them is offering £97 per month but they reckon I'll use £1530 this next 12 months.

So how have I got £325 in credit when I'm only paying £70 now ?

I have also lost track of what’s good and what’s bad. I’m on a fixed tariff with a direct debit of £120pcm (dual fuel). My deal comes to an end at the end of May.

If I want to fix for a year with my current provider it will go up to £498 per month direct debit. I’m guessing the standard (capped) rate is less, but no idea. Will have a look in 2 months.

Tip

give your own meter readings and NEVER let their people into your house to read the meter.

Keep the readings you give as low as you can.

You can get away with this for 5 years.

When prices drop , up the readings you give to catch up but pay less.

Prices will drop eventually. Stay strong.

A bloke in our village is in a bit of bother with the local council, as he has chopped down a fucking massive oak tree that was at the end of his garden, this thing must have been 50 foot tall, it was fucking massive. it apparently had some sort of tree protection order on it, even though it was on his land. He's been going back and forth for ages with the council, and eventually I think he's lost his rag and had it chopped down over a couple of days the other weekend. He could apparently, get upwards of a £10K fine, and by all accounts it cost him nearly £3K to get it taken down.

The stumpy bit left in the ground is about 1.5M across, so the tree must have been old as fuck

It's a shame it's gone, but on the plus side, he's got loads more light coming in 🙂

Our neighbours have an electric socket at the rear of their garage, that's actually out of view of the back of their house - They're old duffers as well, and are always away at weekends (I think they have a weekend cottage in Suffolk somewhere) so I might just tap into that at weekends in order to try and keep the bills down

Don’t let them put a smart meter in. Then you’re goosed.

They cannot legally enter your property just to read your meter.
