Energy Prices

My 2 year fixed tariff ends in April so I thought I’d do a price comparison.

Currently pay £220 a month and built up credit. Cheapest now is £560 !!!!!! That’s nearly £7k a year !!!!!! Fucking hell !

Fully insulated house, double glazing, all light bulbs are energy saving, smart radiator thermostats, modern boiler set to 22 degrees etc. Wife works from home but heating off and a fancy super efficient inverter heats the only room she’s in.

This is on top of the NI increases, council tax hikes etc. which are coming. Jesus.

Has anyone else done one recently ?? I hope I’ve done something wrong otherwise that’s no fancy holiday for us this year and we’ll be some of the lucky ones. Some people are going to be fucked.

This countries going to have some serious trouble ahead and how will some cope ??

Is it true that 25% of the energy prices is “green tax” ??

Is it the Russians behind this ??

And this isn’t just a Tory thing - it wouldn’t be much different with any of them in charge.

Does she have a sybian rider which she uses all day whilst I’m at work ?

  • Leave it to go to variable. Don’t fix. Been discussed in other threads but sadly it’s the tories fault on there so don’t bother 👍🏼

Lucky you she's come on board.

I'm still going round turning every light off ever at least 4 times a day whilst she has a 2 hour bath with the window open for fresh air...

at least she’s used the rain to clean the cushions

Yeah. And we'll probably be taking them to the laundrette to dry them.

Got an old paraffin heater going the other day to keep the chill off the greenhouse.

Lad decided it would be useful to get electric heater- all well and good but we've no supply down to it.

It got me looking at some, and one was a 2kw job.

Did some calculations and if it was on all day it would cost over £8.40 each day (based on my tariff).

So easy to use leccy without realising the cost.

Be a fair few hot tubs for sale this summer.

Average cost to run one of those has gone from about £15 a day to £40.

How much extra VAT is being generated by rising energy bills?

My mate hired one for a weekend.
Hired a hot tub.

Think about that.

Sorry, ex mate.

Quite a bit.

But not as much as goods rated at the full amount.

Rats nest under them, knaw on the insulation and drink the water.

Can't think of anything worse than sitting in a wooden tub sharing other folks fluids and flaking skin pretending to be in a Swedish Erotica film under a grey British sky drinking some pissy coloured "rose" wine from Asda.

Jumping into a free flowing mountain stream for a laugh, that's different.

Replace wooden with inflatable.... That's how you think 'worse'

Was on a Teams call with some recently and the woman was moaning about the cost of living increases. It had got so bad she had turned her hot tub off!

Band E isn’t the middle.

Youll just have to get rid of a couple of butlers, or throw a few of your top hats on the fire to stay warm.

Toff.

Yeah, you're right. I might have to bin the cleaner off. That £150 could have helped with her costs.

Pah.
