My 2 year fixed tariff ends in April so I thought I’d do a price comparison. 

Currently pay £220 a month and built up credit. Cheapest now is £560 !!!!!! That’s nearly £7k a year !!!!!! Fucking hell !

Fully insulated house, double glazing, all light bulbs are energy saving, smart radiator thermostats, modern boiler set to 22 degrees etc. Wife works from home but heating off and a fancy super efficient inverter heats the only room she’s in.

This is on top of the NI increases, council tax hikes etc. which are coming. Jesus. 

Has anyone else done one recently ?? I hope I’ve done something wrong otherwise that’s no fancy holiday for us this year and we’ll be some of the lucky ones. Some people are going to be fucked.

This countries going to have some serious trouble ahead and how will some cope ??

Is it true that 25% of the energy prices is “green tax” ??

Is it the Russians behind this ??

And this isn’t just a Tory thing - it wouldn’t be much different with any of them in charge.

Same with petrol, people are going to go under.

Families already balancing the books on set wages cant take a doubling in gas and electric price.

Im in the heating game and am already hearing stories of people ringing the energy companies up and telling them straight that they won’t be able to afford it.

Payment plans will be the solution.

I don’t think I use a lot but my bills are increasing by 50% and that’s now. I think they’ll go up more in mid winter.

Fuel to fill up now is £20 dearer.

That's right. It must be soul destroying knowing that for the time being it's only going to get worse.

The companies will no doubt use inflation to justify it (at least in part) as some of their other costs are rising- eg wages etc.

4700 mine for electric and gas , 

but that does include a bit of a deficit (500) built up during working from home when usually there be no usage and the original DD apparently not covering usage . 

will be cutting plugs off things soon , disconnect the oven , sandwiches are the new roast dinner and stale bread will be the new toast, showers will be things that happen after swimming and putting the heating on will be hard  with every radiator disconnected. 
Fortunately able to pay it just about, but fuck me its going to be tough . 

getting the house rendered with insulated render too, too late for this winter but hopefully make a difference for next . 

 

Fixed term has come to an end. Bill rose £150 a month this month on a variable. Fixed rate was absolutely bonkers......
