My 2 year fixed tariff ends in April so I thought I’d do a price comparison. 

Currently pay £220 a month and built up credit. Cheapest now is £560 !!!!!! That’s nearly £7k a year !!!!!! Fucking hell !

Fully insulated house, double glazing, all light bulbs are energy saving, smart radiator thermostats, modern boiler set to 22 degrees etc. Wife works from home but heating off and a fancy super efficient inverter heats the only room she’s in.

This is on top of the NI increases, council tax hikes etc. which are coming. Jesus. 

Has anyone else done one recently ?? I hope I’ve done something wrong otherwise that’s no fancy holiday for us this year and we’ll be some of the lucky ones. Some people are going to be fucked.

This countries going to have some serious trouble ahead and how will some cope ??

Is it true that 25% of the energy prices is “green tax” ??

Is it the Russians behind this ??

And this isn’t just a Tory thing - it wouldn’t be much different with any of them in charge.

no, it's just what happens now - anything this Government does is perfectly acceptable, because it would have been worse if Labour were in charge, either that, or it'll be Labours fault that the Tories have done something nobody likes, because they're shit.

As labour have backed the sanctions, then the price of energy would be no different. 

Now then sir kier has criticised Boris for trying to get opec nations to produce more oil, thus reducing the price. (Doesn't look like they are going to, but at least he tried).

If oil production rates do increase though, and the price drops as a result, then the visit will be beneficial to us and the west as a whole.

This cap in hand bollocks could come back to bite him: it may be used to point out that Boris was doing right by the country, whereas Labour wouldn't have, in which case energy prices would have remained higher. (Again relying on opec doing their bit.

Keeping the price higher, taxing the energy companies more, and giving it back to consumers is all a bit bizarre frankly. 

As it happens, the upshot of all this, (whichever party is or gets into power) is an even greater push towards renewable and nuclear.

I've looked at the 2019 manifesto and they are pretty spot on:

New nuclear power needed for energy security.

However, they then go on to talk utter bollocks:

We will upgrade almost all of the UK’s 27 million homes to the highest energy-efficiency standards, reducing the average household energy bill by £417 per household per year by 2030 and eliminating fuel poverty.

Listening to some expert on the radio the other day and he was saying because we entered the global energy market then if we built a hundred nuclear power stations we would simply supply that capacity to the network. In other words we aren't directly giving ourselves that supply to reduce prices.  To be honest I haven't read up too much on it but it does seem to tally that if global wholesale gas and electricity is high and we all suffer.

Living in a knackered 300 yr old house I applied for one of Mr Johnson's much vaunted Green Energy Grants 2 years ago but couldn't find any "approved" installers to give me the necessary quotations.

Then Sunak closed the scheme in the last budget, total failure as for air source heat pump systems to work you need properly insulated buildings.

Took time off work and did it myself in the end

I've been paying £47 per month for my Guardian subscription and £22/month for delivery so just cancelled to cover this.

Jewsons does a cheaper generic - half the price, if they are still going, the one on Lever St. is a Kurdish bakery shop now. Someone told me never use insulation on the inside of old houses, the brickwork needs the heat, if it pisses down then there's a frost then your bricks are fucked.
