January 11, 20224 yr I know the good folk of WWays will point me in the right direction; even the 49% will have a notion... if you purchase an item via direct debit, and the company you buy from stop you from using said item mid term, are you obliged to complete the term? is it often dependent on Ts & Cs, or if they just stop fulfilling the order, can you cancel and kick up a fuss? they've not missed a payment, and just wonder how long services can be suspended for? TIA
January 11, 20224 yr About ten years back I got a SIM only contract from 3, the reception was shite where I lived, had to go upstairs to the front bedroom to get a signal. I lost my phone and went to the shop in town for a replacement SIM and some snot-nosed Asian kid barely off his mum's tit talked to me like shit and wanted a tenner for a SIM. I went to the one on Market St. in Manc the next time I was there, free SIM in two minutes off some student southern type. But the reception was still shite. I rang them and told them to stick it up their arse (the contract and a random call centre). They were like a dog with a bone when I cancelled my DD, I felt like one of the FBI'S most wanted. I ended up paying up the contract in the end. We scroll through the terms then tick the box. You're tied in even if their product is shite. Edited January 11, 20224 yr by Youri McAnespie

January 11, 20224 yr Direct debit is merely the method of payment for the services. Thus it depends what the contract for the purchase of the goods or services says and what it is etc if the supplier has suspended a service or withheld goods for non payment then it’s a breach on the consumer side sounds from what you’ve said that it’s a breach of contract from the supplier side in which case wouldn’t be unreasonable to cancel the DD until it was reinstated if it’s severe enough you can alsocontact the bank where the DD comes from and request the payments made are refunded this happens overnight usually and is the DD guarantee scheme As Micky says would be useful to gave specific context so can advise better
January 11, 20224 yr Be careful I think a DD gets logged on your credit file and if you stop paying it can tank your credit rating. Not 100%, but just try and get stuff cancelled by them, if that makes sense. Edited January 11, 20224 yr by Spider
January 11, 20224 yr Author a season ticket... not been allowed in since November. No date until I am allowed in, and nothing 'official'. I'm still allowed in away games, and my kids are still allowed in... in fact I think my ticket is still good, just i',m not those cheeky rascals keep taking the payments though the more i think about, the more goosed i think i am; just feels like i am being denied a service which i'm paying for, for an undefined period, and with no official ruling oh, and hi PC Smith

No matter what the payment method is

The monthly payments scheme falls under the consumer credit act so this will fall under remit of your credit filE. See what provision it has within the terms for such an instance. Also try writing to the club and asking them to cancel the season ticket and thus the payments due and ask for refund of payment from point services/goods were withdrawn. I THINK they’ve just kept on taking it as they wouldn’t cancel it.

January 11, 20224 yr We're not going to be able to afford the likes of Dempsey if the ESL nutters start cancelling their DDs. Suck it up for the greater good ya yobbo!

They’re all cunts so you’re right to tell him to be careful. And not be a thug of course
January 11, 20224 yr I may be wrong but I have a feeling your debt for the ST isn't to the club anyway. Don't they use a finance company who post the club up front and then collect your payments for a fee? In essence, the club already have the money from your ticket. Why don't you try offering the ticket to someone to go in your place on the understanding that when [s]you've learned to behave[/s] you're allowed to attend again you do so? Edit - how the hell do you do strike through? Edited January 11, 20224 yr by MickyD

January 11, 20224 yr Author I went for a little wander at Stockport, but was released. No charge or arrest, but word got back. I'm allowed to attend away games, but not home until 'the courts have dealt with me'. I've just no idea when this will even be, as nothing formal has been put to me. Before anyone points out the obvious, yes I am dick and shouldn't have done it. It was a perfect storm of bollocks and frustration and I snapped. I was 30 yards in before I knew what was happening. I'll call them later and see if I can get any further info. It seems daft they are happy for me to go across the country, yet not home wherever I've not caused a real issue in over 30 years
