He most likely came here as a child and has a family here, so it’s one for us to deal with IMO for this particular situation. If he was facing prosecution abroad or was awaiting an asylum claim, then yes deportation is the right choice.

That’s not what happens though, no doubt he would continue to smuggle and hold influence over crime here. his son was a ticking time bomb for when he’d be in prison for violent crime. It’s also highly likely the guy they stabbed would either have ended up in a cell or involved in another fight in front of the public.

These deportations were never solving the problem - it’s interesting that two Home Secretaries are blaming human rights lawyers and liberal do gooders. When they’ve been underfunding and cutting vital services and early interventions for over a decade now. Services that were working.

Telling us all that the deportations keep our streets safer is a sticky plaster. It’s nice to think our streets are safer because we’ve shipped a violent thug abroad, the reality is very different.

You could say the same about sending them to prison. Fuck it let’s not deport anyone, let’s not jail anyone and just hope for the best.

Surely whether someone is deported or not is down to the law.  Not Cheese, so called lefty lawyers or even the judge? Although I can see how two judges might come to differing conclusions in such cases.
