To me it's the other way. You can't highlight a particular demographic or set of cultural issues that lead to hideous crimes with someone saying what about white grooming gangs or what about the Catholic church or what about Jimmy Saville and BBC etc etc.

Each particular set of circumstances is abhorrent. None more than those beasts in Scotland.

Why can't we all be appalled and shocked at that case, have it fully investigated as to how it was allowed to happen and whether it be failures in social care or whatever?

There's only one set of folk trying to make this a points scoring exercise and trivialising a child sex abuse scandal and its not old Tommy or Nigel and his gang.

I'm not sure that's the case, but they do get far more excited when it is the "usual suspects" and there is an air of disappointment, if it isn't Raygun perpetrators (this holds true for child abuse and/or acts of terror)

You don't think it's relevant that vast amounts of the men in involved are of one particular demographic in a countless of these cases? Ie Pakistani Muslim men?

When there's shit loads of the same demographic doing something bad it's pretty common to investigate why that is.
