Or is my understanding of our political system incorrect? guess it is correct how he became PM by default initially. But the people voted him in a large majority. No matter one’s personal view, a democratic decision. Now, tell me about Corbyn or Sir Keir? Similar, I think? And the country similarly decided against their views. Site Supporter Spider Posted December 16, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted December 16, 2020 (edited) Boris is a giggle though Dangling off zip wires, waving union jacks. Putting deals in ovens in an office just like everyone elses. He appeals to the yuppie sorts. His wiffing and waffing is endearing when he's just being asked questions about London's cycle lanes, or if he's playing rugby with brown children. His affable, latin bullshit has become very tiring when it's being used to try and cover up the turds he keeps dropping behind him. Starmer I’m sure must have somebody dress him in a morning as I cannot imagine for one minute he has the fortitude to decide what to wear himself and actually go for it. That’s a lot of stupid people in your highly educated opinion Well again, not strictly true. If we're being pedantic, and I do know you love a bit of pedantry from time to time, the party of which he was leader won the most seats. It's a parliamentary election not a presidential one, as well you know. Also, they won 43% of a 67% turnout so nowhere near a majority of people voted for them/him. And yep, you're right, there's a lot of stupid people out there.

I think it is, as members of the public, we only vote for our own MP, we don't vote for the PM - I'd have thought somebody as literal as you would know that 😀 So if those voting in the GE thought they were voting for Boris, then most of them were actually wrong, they were not And obviously he was voted in as PM by his own party initially, fuck all to do with us plebs

I'd have thought Starmer will give who ever is PM at the next GE a decent run for their money.

Not always, Caroline Lucas from the Green Party has been an MP for Brighton for about 10 years - when the people of Brighton vote her in, they're not casting that vote thinking that she or anybody else from her party will be PM, they're voting because they believe that she, as an individual, will do what's best for her constituency. So therefore, it's can't be true that voting for your local MP is a vote for the PM in a GE

I doubt any system would have stopped loads of floating voters from being drawn into Boris's well crafted, self-deprecating, daft Etonian slapstick but-he-must-know-what-he's-doing pastiche. He's got another test now as Heathrow has been told it can expand. He said he'd lie down in front of the bulldozers for his constituents. But managed to miss a commons vote to try and stop it. He's shit. And the clock is ticking. I watched a load of the Thatcher stuff on BBC4 last night. She would have sorted Brexit and Covid and we'd all be arguing about pit closures by now.
