  1. They didn’t heed to, you’ve been closely watching … so the job you said is taking too long to finish is actually finished ?
  2. She was from Rochdale if that makes it easier to comprehend 😁
  3. Once in Dublin airport with a girlfriend, we missed check in time for the flight but were there well in time for take off time. when she asked why we couldn’t just get on as we’ve only hand luggage, the check in politely explained “ it’ll need to be “taxi ing down the run way now “ my girlfriend said to the amusement of everyone in earshot, “ I don’t mind, I’ll pay for a taxi “ I just walked off as if not with her
  4. Not even close mate . they don’t want plaudits , bonus maybe, get them for completion and heavily fined for going over without reasonable justification. local authorities challenge durations all the time and grant timescales based on similar work type of the past. Then fine like fuck for everyday over that duration dependent on road type . Bolton council are one of the best or worst dependent which side of the fence you’re on . Worse for me, better for you keeping your disruption down. councils state what dates they want on those signs too and often on a under promise over deliver for their ease of managing residentbcomplaints , so we’d ask for 6 weeks to complete a gas main for example, they’d say water went down there in 3, you can have 4 but put 6 on the advance sign. that way if we over run without good cause it’s covered from a complaints point of view they get a few quid each day over. Thousands a day in some cases . Surveyor comment shows a good example of my first post of not really knowing what is involved to be honest , but theres a multitude of reasons for change in duration once started and are not possible to predict no matter how much “ surveying” is done before
  5. Work in this trade and you should really come up to road workers and tell them they’ve not done enough and how they should do it , they love that . same as the constant “ loads of cones and nowt going on” and a particular favourite “ is the road really shut ? , I only live there “ same with most things, if you don’t know what they’re doing or what goes into it, you won’t know how long it should take . This particular true on motorway works *fat olive, deals with complaints all week from “ experts” who could do it better and due to this politically correct era can no longer tell people to fuck off and has to answer each stupid enquiry politely , then see it on here, my place of refuge 😁
  6. Agree with the judgement , no disagreement there but all you have for both is written history from word of mouth. you ( we) don’t know that Julius Ceasar existed, we believe it because of what is told in texts and written history people who believe in God believe because of what’s written in texts from word of mouth . We believe Julius built Roman coliseums because they are there and we are told he did people who believe in god believe He created all creatures because they’re there and they are told he did the belief principle is the same

Sorry for your loss it really is a terrible thing, people thinking it isn’t or it’s less of an issue now is a real concern. my uncle passed with it when it was new, it was unfortunate and no one really knew what it was so no blame , but now people know and some still ignore or say it’s still fake .
  8. Do you believe In historical figures, julius Caesar for example?
  9. I got in trouble today, rolling out a new process & app throughout the company visiting depots to do training etc. part of the way through , I am showing the system and say “ and when you click this, it automatically pushes the job out to your lads on site “ member of the support staff complained, as I should have used operative, as I was presuming all the operatives are male. they are all male at this depot and I knew this , I had the field staff list as I need to upload their names for reg on the app , but I still shouldn’t use lads apparently , I have to go somewhere next week where I can be told why using lads, to describe lads , is offensive to some lad in an office in Leeds with nothing better to do but complain. I possibly will Jack ( or Jill) it in before that, such is my exasperation at needing to go to this “ course” for using the word lads.
  10. Saw that, can’t believe he read that out, can only think he gets loads and didn’t see anything “ offensive “ in it and didn’t really take note of it can’t believe a man in his position wouldn’t know what “ up the RA” means , and don’t think for a minute he’d say it if he realised . Victim of a prank
  11. The civil war. Wigan were Royalist and Bolton Parliamentarians. Their football team is a none entity , I’ve got Wigan rugby league fans at work who are gutted they beat us, imagine that , a team from your town playing and you want them to lose to another towns team . I would want a Bolton team or person from any sport to beat a team from another town, from marbles to Rugby to bloody kabadi, if they’re from Bolton I want them winning. that’s why they are not worthy of being our rival , they’ve already got one in a different sport in their own town
  12. Last time I went in there was after we’d been for a meal across the road in Cassalingo. couldn't believe how manky, rough and full of deadbeats it was, one bloke was in the smoking area , stripped off and proceeded to parade around the pub, then went back out and got dressed again as if nothing happened
  13. Never been on a protest apart from being in one when delivering equipment to said Birtenshaw development and a few other controversial ones over the years . we were only supplying the plant and had to go on a few times for services / breakdowns etc Waggon got a brick through the window at Birtenshaw and hurt the lad driving and later on in the week the girls in the shop opposite wouldn’t serve us simply because we were working there, telling us we were disgusting scum and all sorts. I wanted 20 regal and a can of coke… dickheads sitting on the tracks of the machine too then whining like bitches when I moved it and telling the police 😁 I know why people felt strongly about it but I wanted them to build tower blocks there after that experience

It’s proper name is either, whichever one you want to use. But it was called Derry long before Londonderry but this isn’t the thread for that discussion, or even the poppy/ McLean discussion ,IMO that’ll no doubt come up again in a few weeks as it always does. until then, let’s all just concentrate on beating the pie eating fuckers .
  15. Cotton Tree?
  16. Goldthorn hotel in Wolverhampton, a mecure establishment. guarantee there won’t be one worse anywhere in this country damp on the walls, wall paper from the 1940s taps that coughed and spluttered before giving a dribble of discoloured water, windows that wouldn’t shut ,never mind lock . Dinner was ordering what was on the menu apart from they had no menus , staff couldn’t tell me what was available but could then tell me nothing left apart from curry but no naan bread , they had a bar with no beer left , jd and coke it is then, no bottle opener for the coke and only a wine glass to put it in . constant noise from floorboards moving as other guests walked about , next morning, breakfast was a tray , on it a bowl, with a box from a cereal multipack with cling film over, a plate with one slice of bread and an empty cup and glass. Milk teabags and hot water available on a fold up table , water from a stand alone burco boiler on this table next to the box of teabags and supermarket plastic bottle of milk , but no chairs in the dining room as they were “ setting up for a meeting “ do you had to do this then carry your breakfast back to your shit room and eat it sat on your bed. honestly, could go on, thought it was a piss take at first and the girl who booked it for me would ring and say “ah got you good style eh ? Here’s your real hotel “ stayed in loads , some of which weren’t up to standard but this was a whole new level of shite
  17. Tell him go to the Irish centre on lever st next time , every match on in there 👍
  18. My work brings me to loads of shit towns all over, it’s why I rarely slag Bolton as rough as it really isn’t in comparison to some, but, for genuine no mark shitness, seeing how Bradford is taken and Birmingham is too big to generalise, I’m going to put those crappy places just outside Burnley, Nelson, Colne etc . Complete kips with absolutely fuck all of any merit
  19. whether we think the protocol is working or a good idea or not, the protocol is currently working as envisaged will go on to work as envisaged and how it it was agreed to and signed up to by the UK government in a triumphant “ we’ve sorted it “ remember the statement “ people of NI will have the best of both worlds remaining in the customs union and in a global uk “? ( words to that effect ) two possibilities , they signed it knowing it would cause issues and they’d have to renege on it or they signed it not knowing what it fully entailed and the issues it would cause and now are thinking shit best do something now, to appease unionists who are against it .
  20. Myself and a mate missed 3 flights in Dublin airport once, in one day . one genuinely just got there late , the other two We were in departures for both but was having a few pints with people who had been at the same wedding getting different flights all over, looked at my watch, realised shit we’ve missed the next one now , bought another flight and went back to the bar where more people had arrived and did the same again . We went back home and tried again the next day 😁 £500 it cost me all told . Too thick to buy flexi tickets
  21. Drove past indespension yesterday and they have a banner up advertising for production operatives. not sure what they’re like to work for, but know their trailers are good product and they’re good to deal with from past experience

  23. Don’t think it was “ the left” and certainly wasn’t lack of empathy just think it was rank bad interviewer manners . I’m not a fan of Boris , in fact I think he’s a gobshite , but still thought this was out of order. I would say the same if he said it to any political leader or indeed any guest he was interviewing.
  24. Yes, but even so , wasn’t very good. think a professional interviewer should behave a bit more professionally when interviewing the prime minister, even if he thinks the prime minister is a bit of a waffling baffoon
