  1. And what did he actually do as a player? Gave desire but lacked anything else. Legends are names like Lofthouse, Okotcha, Djorkaef, McGinlay etc....not a guy who lacked skill and an eye for goal as a forward.
  2. After 2 adults and 1 child tickets for Saturday....help!!!!!! Drop me a PM to save my bacon. Cheers.
  3. Which website is showing that Horwich?
  4. What's the latest figures on season tickets sold? With the club keeping the match day prices the same, I can't see us selling too many pay on the day tickets for the so called lesser games? Just hope season tickets are a few thousand up on last season otherwise it's plenty of sub 20k crowds again I fear.
  5. I remember standing on the terraces at Burnley when we played them in a pre season friendly in 1993. That was Thommo's first game for us and he scored a scorching left footer straight into the top corner which almost took the net out.
  6. Good call. Monday 16th June infact. http://www.premierleague.com/page/Faqs/0,,12306,00.html
  7. Megson's changed the personnel in there and settled the in one game out the next that Lee was adopting. Natural left midfielder in Taylor, thankfully Speed has gone, Campo back in as defensive midfielder and Guthrie is starting every game. It's a stark contrast from the start of the season. Hopefully Diouf will be pushed into a more forward role (maybe link between midfield and Davis) at the expense of McCann?
  8. Is it just me or, other than a class forward (ideally 2) and a playmaker / central midfielder with energy and a bit of pace, we look like having a healthier 1st eleven than we've had in a few years going into the close season? I remember thinking at the end of the last 2 seasons we had a huge rebuilding job on our hands and we never did it. This time around we have younger and better players in our previous weak positions in Steinssen, Cahill, Taylor and maybe Guthrie. No summer uncertainty over Anelka too. We just have to worry about Diouf going but with Taylor wide left it still just leaves us needing 2 out and out forwards and a class central midfielder. Course, if Diouf stays then great but it won't be panic stations if he did like Anelka was. Jussi - if he goes then we have Al Habsi. Personally, I feel Megson has identified and bought in most of the areas were both BSA and LSL didn't see we were weak or didn't have the funds to rebuild. YES, for one reason or another, we didn't get the forward we craved but providing we stay up that will definitely be addressed in the close season. We were a forward and maybe a good midfielder away from it being a cracking January of transfers in for us. Overall I think it was an above average to good January for us and we definitely have a lot stronger defence and more balanced midfield. Get me a season ticket in the North Stand for the 08/09 Premier League season. C'mon you white men
  9. Not forgetting Barnsley....just like watching Brazil!
  10. I can just picture all 4,000+ of us in it........ http://www.allianz-arena.de/en/aktuell/webcam/
  11. An excellent read and reflects everything that all of us on here have said in the days leading up to Megson's appointment and what we are now thinking. If outsiders can hit the nail on the head then why can't Phil "let me press the destruct button" Gartside?! http://www.sportinglife.com/fanzine/story_...ual_145622.html
  12. Totally agree. Though I don't rate the guy and I'm 200% behind all of you who don't want him in, you can't blame him for taking the job. My vengence will be directed towards those fookers in the directors box and them only. I will only question Megson on what he has done on the pitch i.e. the results we get between now and early January. Gartside's going to need a police escort coming into the ground tonight!
  13. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/e...rem/7058362.stm Leicester manager Gary Megson is the front-runner to become the new Bolton manager, BBC Sport understands. Graeme Souness was interviewed for the post last week but Bolton chairman Phil Gartside has confirmed the Scot is not interested in succeeding Sammy Lee. Now Gartside looks set to turn to Megson and he is believed to be prepared to pay ?300,000 to get him. More soon.
  14. That's more than likely because of tomorrow's game. Had we not been playing tomorrow then some of the squad players would have had a runout.
  15. I got mine today and the guy at the ticket office said that we had only just sold over 1,000 and are looking likely to only sell a few hundred more. He did say that there are discussions with the old bill and Birmingham to allow for pay on the gate. Numbers are down purely because of the European trip?
  16. Cheers Casino. Looks like the beers will be flowing in the ground then.
  17. Are there any designated away pubs near the ground? First time to St Andrews for me.
  18. A tall, thin, blonde with a cap on whose a player? Sounds like her out of Girls Aloud to me
  19. Is it me or is that Stelios and not Diouf in the team photo? Unless my lamps are on their way out. I can't see Diouf in the pic?
  20. From what I remember, only United, Liverpool (albeit an odd empty seat ere and there due to being arrested for robbing) and Villa (withto it being last game of the season) sold out? In years gone by Everton, MASSIVES, Arsenal and Newcak always sold out but even they are staying away due to the ?36 price of the category A+ tickets. Though I somewhat agree with what Casino is saying, something should have been done at reducing the match day prices.
  21. Still ?36 for a category A+ game in the away upper tier! Can't see the away end being any fuller than it was last season which is what boosted our attendance. Hopefully, our season ticket sales better last season's final figure but I doubt it. Having said that, sooner have genuine fans in the ground to create a better atmosphere! "Wanderers have frozen matchday ticket prices for the new season. The club has announced that all four of their matchday pricing categories will stay the same as last season. Supporters will be able to watch the Wanderers, who were the first Premier League outfit to reduce season ticket prices for the new campaign, at the Reebok from ?21 next season, while children will pay from only ?10. Bolton have also revamped their club membership scheme to offer great savings on home match tickets. For further information please call the ticket and membership office on 0871 871 2932"
  22. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...and/6291244.stm Sunderland agree ?5m Chopra deal Sunderland have agreed a ?5m deal for Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra. The 23-year-old former Newcastle star scored 22 goals for Cardiff in the Championship last season and now looks set to return to the north-east. Cardiff boss Dave Jones told the South Wales Echo: "I am sorry to see him go, everybody in the camp is. But there is a price for every player." Chopra will leave Cardiff's training camp in Portugal on Thursday to a have medical at Sunderland on Friday. Cardiff boss Jones added: "The money could go on to make us stronger. "This is good business for us and after all, we are in a business. And for Michael it means Premiership football - we cannot stop him. We wish him all the best with Sunderland." Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale revealed that they had turned down an unnamed offer from an unnamed club. But Keane has met the asking price for Chopra, who joined Cardiff for less than ?500,000 in June 2006, after missing out on David Nugent, who is joining Portsmouth. Keane agreed a ?6m deal with Preston for Nugent, and Chopra's goal record compared favourably to the England striker's last season. BBC Wales understands Chopra has a release clause in his contract allowing him to speak to any club offering ?5m - now the Geordie must weigh up whether to move back to the Premiership with the old enemy."
  23. I've not seen anywhere that this game is over 2 legs? Just wondering why it is being played at Reading and not on a neutral venue? Hardly seems fair that we have to win it at their gaff to be crowned champions.
  24. We are allowed an extra 2-3,000 Stan. 4,000 is for the entire lower tier and the guy at the ticket office said Blackburn have allowed us the entire top tier if need be. Looks like there could well be 6 to 7,000 afterall. Will this be the biggest away following for a league match since we got promoted at Blackburn in the 70s?
