This Town Is Coming Like A Ghost Town...
I haven't lived in my home town for a good few years but sadly it begins to depress me as soon as I exit the roundabout at Kearsley, it then gets steadily worse and worse as you drive down Manny road. Real shame cos I remember it having a good rep a fair few years ago. As for the nepatism i'm with NB, not surprised in the slightest. I stupidly enquired about apprenticeships with Bolton Council when I left school . . .lesson learned! It's not just Bolton though is it? I used to work in Moston and the drive along Oldham road and surrounding area was shocking. Proper post apocalyptal! I bet the same could be said for many places in the UK. Bad times

Shariaaiaiaia Law In The Uk?
No your allright ta! Does this kind of thing happen in many Islamic states then, the law I mean? To be fair the guy speaking seemed fairly intelligent and gave some logical sounding arguments for it, but it all seems so out of touch with, well I wont say our culture, so let's say modern western cultural ideals.

Shariaaiaiaia Law In The Uk?

They did look very good against Spain tbf, but I reckon Germany would have been most peoples choice? Haven't seen the odds. Makes me feel a bit better about England watching this, bizarely. I know it's been said many, many times but fcuk me Mark Lawrenson is one annoying, miserable, boring twat!

Sometimes I Despair At The English Judiciary And Echr
Absolutely amazes me stuff like this. If he was convicted of bombings he'd be sent UPS express delivery, I don't see a difference myself. Homer's spot on.

Shariaaiaiaia Law In The Uk?
Just saw a 4thoughtTV bit where a guy was suggesting that by introducing Sharia law, and thereby stoning adulterers etc, in the UK it would help build communities and improve morals. Can't say i'm convinced but I would agree that we're a bit soft on certain areas of crime. Anyone who say beats up an OAP should be put in stocks on Bolton Town Hall until we've all had our fill!

Is This Really Art...?
I love the idea of Tracy Emin reading wanderersways! CWP, you are seriously bordering on some copyright issues. Get your own art NB is quite right but for me anyone could provoke a reaction. Can we say that it's art though? mmmm . . . Haribos!

Is This Really Art...?
I think that sums it up nicely. Long story cut short but an ex gfs sister was an art grad in Canada. She told me how a lad on her course pissed on a canvass after supping a few ales watching the Superbowl and their tutor raved about his and slated all the others because their pieces were, boring, or words to that effect! She wasn't impressed needless to say. Top joke btw

Is This Really Art...?
Ok without deliberately trying to be childish it makes me ask the question, 'Who says?'. I mean if art is adjudged to be art because of an argument then im really not sure how anyone can honestly call something art. I could say that exposing myself next to the Haribos was to highlight the lack of understanding and paranoia people have towards paedophiles. I know that's bollocks but it's a reason and then whose to say it is or isn't art? The reality is everyone would know that im an 'attention seeker', at best, and my original point was that such methods seem to be being employed to promote a piece so that it hikes the price up. To me, and this is always going to be subjective, that is not art. By the way, does anyone know how Emin's justified her bed as art?

Recent Filums I've Watched
I watched it (Prometheus) the other week having read some appalling reviews but have to say I quite liked it. The dialogue, characterisation and plot cohesion were dire but to be honest i didn't really expect much better. It's a horror film set in space! I like films that encourage a bit of thinking on the viewers part and this did that well and the 3D was immense. Part 2(?) has the potential to be very good. Reckon 7/10 would be a touch generous though. Watched Planet of the Apes rising the other day, average at best.

Is This Really Art...?
I understand the point here but if I got my knob out in ASDA and waved it about i'm sure i'd get an emotional reaction, would it be art though, good or bad? As for that unmade bed??!! What really bugs me with all this so called art is how much it goes for! Some folk clearly do have more money then sense. Remember that Hirst shark in formaldehyde piece? How was that art yet the half cat in Bolton museum is well er just a museum piece? Seriously, I do get that art should stir emotions but a lot of modern art is just simply trying to wind folk up, surely? - The bigger the controversy the bigger the price tag!? Two very different things in my opinion. Im not sure id call Mr glitter here or any of the aforementioned art. So there!

Are We Really That Bad?!
I watched quite a bit of Bundesliga when I was in Asia and was very impressed with the overall standard of play. Even the fans seemed to be having a better time out of it! Like a few have said, and i'd tend to agree, where other nations have seen their shortcomings and acted accordingly e.g. Germany, we've (the FA) done nothing tangibly different in my lifetime. No wait, we've appointed foreign coaches in the hope that technical know how will somehow 'rub off' onto our players . . . Folk are right, we have never been good enough, at least not in my lifetime but I really don't think that man for man we are any less able than our Euro chums. Do people think if, say, the likes of Rooney, Gerard, Lampard etc had been coached in Europe or in a more European style they'd be as technically inferior as they have often appeared?

Are We Really That Bad?!
What you mean Fergie, Wenger, Ruskie and the Shieks wouldn't want to help improve English football?? Shock horror

Are We Really That Bad?!
If Roy Hodson has a bit more time with the squad maybe can start to compete at that level again I'd like to think so! Roy has impressed me so far in many areas, not least in the way he has made us organised and hard to beat - the foundations of any decent side IMO (can someone tell Mr Coyle please It's going to be very interesting to see what kind of team he puts together for the qualifiers. I'd love to see us knock it around like Spain but let's face it that isn't the English way and we will never be able to comfortably play like that. If he can get us playing to our strengths and add to that the ability to keep the ball for longer periods then we should do OK. Germany don't tap it about like Spain but they keep the ball with apparent ease. Surely something we could do?
